Abstract

A sterile container for medicinal purposes is of plastic, esp. a bottle-pack unit, and is designed for metered discharge of liquids. The vessel has a bellows or concertina type body (12) and a discharge pipe (20) with a removable closure cap. This cap. (24) is integrally connected with the discharge pipe (20) and has a lug (24) for handling it. In one embodiment (as shown) the end of the discharge pipe has a weakened zone (28), the cap is sealed to the end of the pipe and it can be broken off at the weakened zone. In the embodiment shown, the discharge pipe tapers towards the cap. In another variant, the inside of the discharge pipe adjacent to the cap has a conical taper in the opposite direction, the cap is screwed onto the end of the pipe and a tapering hollow truncated cone of the cap penetrates into and seals with the internal cone of the pipe. Used in particular for infusion liquids for use in hospitals. The bottle can be made in the usual way for plastic bottles, i.e. blowmoulded, and filled with the infusion liquid at the factory and completely sealed to make it sterile. In use at the bedside, however, the contents do not need to be transferred to a separate bottle, but instead the concertina bottle can be directly connected to a tube and injection needle or catheter.
