Abstract

Process comprises copolymerising 100 pts.wt. vinyl chloride monomer with 0.1-3 pts.wt. crosslinking agent of mean mol.wt. at least 200 at a constant temp. within 30-70 deg.C. The crosslinking agent consists of 1 kind more of diacrylate or dimethacrylate of polyether glycol or diacrylate or dimethacrylate of polyester polyol. The crosslinking agent is of formula (I) or (II). R is H or methyl; D1 is 2-6C alkylene; n is 2-100. D2 is 2-6C alkylene or phenylene. The process produces high polymerisation degree vinyl chloride polymers of constant polymerisation degree regardless of amt. of crosslinking agent and can control content of tetrahydrofuran insoluble polymer over a wide range.
