Description
The present invention relates to a cover for a Optical fiber splice, consisting of two plates, the both coated on one side with an adhesive material tet, and the splice between their adhesive surfaces record, the adhesive material is permanently plastic and the two plates angled La at the edges have that dimensioned and in such a way Are spaced from each other that the tabs of the one tile each in the gaps between the tabs intervene on the other tile, according to Pa tent P 33 13 014.
Pacey and J.R. Scott, "A Splicing System for Optical Fiber Cables", International Wire & Cable Symposium Proceedings 1981, S. 362 bis 369 bekannt. A splice cover consisting of two with adhesive Material coated platelet is made of G.K. Pacey and J.R. Scott, "A Splicing System for Optical Fiber Cables", International Wire & Cable Symposium Proceedings 1981, Pp. 362 to 369 known. The tiles used here white no special means which prevent the stacked platelets mutually in latera ler and axial direction to those lying between them Move optical fibers. This should be the task Apply adhesive layer; but that can only be done by glue material that hardens over time. One out curing adhesive material has the disadvantage that it the optical fibers embedded in it are too high Exerts pressure, resulting in an increase in attenuation in the light leads waveguides.
To keep the optical fiber splice secure in the long run To offer protection, but at the same time an attenuation-increasing me mechanical load on the spliced optical fibers to avoid is according to the main patent P 33 13 014.0 adhesive material permanently plastic and are the two Verse plates at the edges with angled tabs hen that dimensioned and at such a distance from each other are arranged that the tabs of the one plate each in the gaps between the tabs of the other Intervene.
As a rule, the optical fibers are in one as Se protective sheath serving as secondary protection. Therefore, like the protective sheaths of the spliced optical fibers the main patent offers strain relief P 33 13 014.0 still no solution.
The invention is based on the object, an Abdec Specification of the type mentioned above, the protection sheaths of the fiber optic cable offers strain relief and is very easy to assemble.
This object is achieved in that at least one of the two plates at its ends Strain relief devices for the protective sheaths of light waveguide is provided.
Appropriate embodiments of the invention are given in the sub claims.
Based on an execution shown in the drawing for example, the invention is explained in more detail below.
The opened cover for an optical fiber splice shown in the figure consists of two plates 1 and 2 , both of which are coated on one side with a layer 3, 4 of polyisobutylene. Between the plates 1, 2 , two optical fibers 5 and 6 spliced together are inserted. If the platelets are now pressed together, the polyisobutylene layers 3 and 4 adhere firmly due to their adhesive effect. The permanently plastic layer material surrounds the splice without exerting excessive pressure on the optical waveguide, which could lead to an increase in attenuation. The Lichtwel lenleiterspleiß is therefore very well protected against mechanical stress.
On one long side, the two plates 1 and 2 are connected to one another in such a way that they can be folded along the connecting line and folded onto one another. So that a predetermined kink occurs, the material is provided along the connection line as in the case of perforations with notches 9 . It is advantageous that the coherent plates represent only one assembly part.
The other long side is provided in both plates 1, 2 with La's 7, 8 , which are angled by 90 ° to the surfaces coated with the adhesive permanent plastic material. The tabs 7, 8 of the two platelets have the same dimensions and are each offset from one another so that the tabs 6 of the lower platelet 1 engage tooth-like between the tabs 8 of the upper platelet 2 . The gap between two tabs is so large that exactly another tab fits into it. These interlocking ver tabs prevent mutual displacement of the two plates in the lateral as well as in the axial direction to the optical fibers. Likewise, the tabs 7, 8 prevent the permanently plastic material 3, 4 from migrating between the platelets.
The spliced optical fibers 5 and 6 lie in protective sheaths 10 and 11 , which additionally provide secondary protection for the optical fibers usually coated with a primary protective layer. Strain relief is required for these protective sleeves, which end shortly before or in the splice cover. For this purpose, the plate 1 has at its two ends, where the optical fibers 5, 6 enter the splice cover, outwardly projecting lugs 12, 13 with arms 14, 15 , which can be squeezed around the protective jackets 10, 11 . The approaches can also be provided with crimp sleeves.
It is useful to bend the lugs 12, 13 according to the diameter of the protective sheaths 10, 11 so that the transition of the optical fibers 5, 6 from the protective sheaths to the permanently plastic layer 3 of the plate 1 takes place as free of curvature as possible. To protect the light wave conductors in this transition area, it would be appropriate to shed or glue them there.
