Abstract

To improve the fit of dentures, we have prepared a composition as follows: the amounts which are mentioned below of karaya and movilith and the red dye are mixed dry. We then add this mixed powder to the previously identified amount of alcohol with continuous stirring. While continuing stirring further, then 2 l of distilled water are added until a pasty composition is produced. This composition is for use very simply applied to the upper denture and the lower denture. After drying it forms part of the denture. Owing to this advantage, the denture does not need to be treated each day as is the case with the other conventional compositions. Description

The invention relates to an agent for improving the fit of dental prostheses, as well as to a method for producing and using the agent, using a thick, spreadable plastic compound made of gelatin, movilith, red paint, aqua distillate and brandy.

As is well known, dental prostheses gradually become loose due to the natural shrinkage of the gums and changes in the palate and thus no longer have a firm fit, although they were originally well adapted to the jaw. Dental prostheses also have a tendency to lose their fit over time as a result of gum recession and changes in the palate; even if the denture was fitted a long time after the teeth were extracted. It has accordingly been proposed to provide dental prostheses with relining compounds to correct their fit.

The known permanent relining compounds have the disadvantage that the assistance of the dentist or a trained dental technician is necessary for the application of the relining compounds to the dental prosthesis.

In addition, the relining compounds available on the market have not generally led to a satisfactory result. Many of the relining compounds on the market are very unsuitable. The relining compound known from DE-PS 10 73 688 does not adhere firmly to the dental prosthesis and is also much too soft to give the dental prosthesis a firm hold.

Relining compounds made from moisture-curing silicone rubber have hitherto been tried without success. Even these did not result in permanent relining.

As a rule, when these known relining compounds are used, adverse odor phenomena appear on the prosthesis after a short time due to food residues, which sometimes makes the upper prosthesis in particular smell nauseating after a few days. Such relining compounds are not justifiable from a hygienic point of view.

Adhesive powders and pastes are also known to improve the fit of the dentures. When these compounds are scattered or applied to the dental prosthesis and the dental prosthesis wearer ingests liquids, these adhesive compounds are rinsed out so that the prosthesis wearer continuously absorbs foreign matter directly into his or her body.

The denture loses its hold as a result. In addition, food particles and fruit bodies can get under the dentures. In addition to the fluids, human saliva also contributes to reducing the effectiveness of the known adhesives.

In DE-OS 25 47 689 a means for improving the fit of dental prostheses is proposed, which consists of a thick, spreadable plastic material made of styrene polymer, synthetic rubber, aromatic polyether and trichlorethylene as a solvent. This remedy can be used if the size of the dental prosthesis deviates slightly from the palate and jaw contours; In the case of larger dimensional deviations, the use of this agent, which is applied to the dental prosthesis as a viscous, brushable plastic compound, however, requires a relatively large amount of time for the application of different layers.

The invention is based on the object of producing a means for improving the fit of dental prostheses, which can be used by the denture wearer himself without the help of a dentist or dental technician, which avoids the disadvantages inherent in the known means, which in particular prevents food residues and Fruit bodies can get under the denture, and that can be applied to the denture in a relatively short time.

The task of optimal denture adhesion is achieved by our product according to the invention in that:

400 g gelatin with the name Karaya,

1 kg Movilith (plastic),

7 l brandy,

2 g of red, harmless food coloring, as well

2 l aqua distillate

are included together as part of our denture adhesive.

Manufacture is done by:

1. Mix the aforementioned parts of Karaya and Movilith and the red color dry.

2. We add this mixed powder to the specified amount of brandy while continuously stirring until everything is distributed.

3. While stirring continuously, 2 l of aqua distillate are added until a pulpy mass is formed.

This produced mass can be stored almost indefinitely and can easily be used by any person wearing a dental prosthesis without the help of a specialist (dentist).

Our inventive reinforcement of the dental prosthesis (upper or lower jaw) forms the applied plastic exactly according to the profile of the jaw or palate.

After the compound has been applied to the dental prosthesis and the same has dried, the plastic also has a non-sticky, smooth surface; it has become part of the dental prosthesis.

Only now, because of the disadvantages compared to a dental prosthesis made by the dentist using a plaster cast, it no longer has any disadvantages. Because of inaccuracies in the shaping and the shrinkage of the plaster of paris during drying as well as during the transfer from the plaster cast to the prosthesis, a relatively large number of impression errors occur. Therefore, the hard plastic dental prosthesis, which is formed from a plaster cast, cannot sit properly on the jaw, especially with unfavorable jaw conditions. The then required adhesives, which are known in a wide variety of ways, are omitted in the dental prosthesis improved according to the inventive method, since the prosthesis is in "contact" due to the very good filling of the cavities between the jaw and the prosthesis with the paste and the solvent " Seat. It is therefore also suitable for partial prostheses, since the tight fit of the prosthesis means that the metal clip that frequently holds the partial prosthesis cannot rub against the enamel of the adjacent teeth.
