Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for the production of front-side electrically conductive, preferably grid-shaped Contact of at least two semiconductor layers having photovoltaic cells, as well as cells produced by this process.
Photovoltaic cells, also known as solar cells, are diode-like Structure and can be made up of monocrystalline or amorphous substances. Examples in this context are US-A-40 64 521 or DE-A-27 32 933 referenced, in which thin-film solar cells are described, which are made of amorphous Silicon or cadmium sulfide-copper sulfide exist. Thin-film solar cells can consist of a substrate to which a rear metallic contact is applied is, on which in turn at least one p- or an n-conductive thin layer and on this an n-conducting or p-conducting second layer can be applied. The top one Layer is then again provided with an electrically conductive contact, the can represent a metal grid or a transparent conductive layer. In the end the second electrical contact is covered by a glass, for example. Solar cells can then be encapsulated. This can be done in that the conductors or conductors to be enclosed by the substrate carrier and the cover glass
Halbleiter heiß versiegelt und verpreßt werden (siehe zum Beispiel DE-A-27 32 933).Semiconductors are heat sealed and pressed (see for example DE-A-27 32 933).
In order to achieve a high efficiency of a solar cell, it is under other required that the front so light source side electrical Contact, which - as mentioned - consists of transparent conductive layers or a close-meshed one metallic grid, ensures a high level of radiation permeability, so that the solar cell is shaded as little as possible. It is known to produce a metallic grid on a support made of glass and by means of a To press heat seal adhesive with the solar cell or the grid by vapor deposition of a metal in a high vacuum through a suitable mask. It is too it has been proposed that metallic grids with conductive pastes by means of the Apply screen printing process. The grids made by this process however, they have disadvantages, which are reflected in the relatively large minimum width of the lattice bars, the thermal stability of the contact or express in high manufacturing costs. In principle, it is not possible to produce fine grids at low cost to create.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a front Contacting solar cells easily and inexpensively to produce, while at the same time the losses as a result of the shading of the active layers by the electrical Contact should be reduced.
The object is achieved according to the invention in that on the front, That is to say, the front semiconductor layer on the light source side has a mask having free spaces applied non-conductive material and then electrically conductive material be brought into the open spaces. The mask preferably has the negative shape one Grid in order to give the electrically conductive material a grid structure. The mask can preferably be applied in the screen printing process, as a result of which dimensions of the grid of the electrically conductive contact with respect to the grid width of 50 - 150 pm and the grating height of 10 - 50 µm. The electric conductive material, which optionally consists of several layers, can preferably be introduced galvanically or electrophoretically into the free spaces. The mask itself consists of a transparent material that is visually the overlying one Layer adapted and at the same time suitable for encapsulation.
For this purpose, the mask made of non-conductive material should have the property show to adhere to the adhesive layer required for encapsulation connect to.
The teaching according to the invention can preferably have a lattice structure having front-side, so light-source-side electrical contact made are, in comparison with cells, the pressed metal grid as electrical Contact show the efficiency is increased by 20% without any special manufacturing technology Effort is required.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the mask can be used after it has been introduced of the electrically conductive material are removed to form the semiconductor layers to be able to treat afterwards. This is particularly advantageous when through Effect of the electrolyte during the galvanic deposition of the front contact upper semiconductor layer is negatively influenced by the transport properties deteriorated or increased surface recombinations occur.
These errors can be eliminated again by regeneration.
To ensure a stable structure of the front electrical contact ensure this can consist of several thin layers that make a good Contact to the semiconductor layer on the one hand and to one The interconnection structure present in the upper part of the solar cell on the other side grant. The electrically conductive contact preferably comprises a first contact layer Layer to be designated, which is preferably made of gold or electrodeposited Palladium consists of the electrophoretically deposited graphite. To this contact layer can be followed by a conductive layer, which is preferably made of electrodeposited Nickel is made. Finally, a metal layer from low can be used as the third layer Melting solder must be applied so as to have a good electrical connection with the Interconnection structure of the upper part during the encapsulation by pressing the solar cell to ensure at elevated temperature.
Further details, advantages and features of the invention result from the following description of a preferred one shown in the drawing Embodiment.
The figures show: FIG. 1 a schematic representation of an according to the invention Process produced, for illustration purposes separated from each other under and Solar cell having upper part and FIG. 2 shows a side view of one of several Cells existing solar cell module.
In Fig. 1, a solar cell 10 is shown purely schematically and enlarged, which consists of a lower part 12 and an upper part 14, which in a subsequent Operation can be combined to form an encapsulated cell.
The lower part 12 comprises a base plate 16, which is preferably made of consists of a substrate glass. On this substrate glass 16 is a first electric applied conductive contact 18, which consist for example of a silver layer can, which is applied to the substrate glass 16 by vapor deposition. Here can of course, an adhesion promoting layer between the substrate glass 16 and the silver layer 18 be arranged.
In the event that the solar cell 10 is a cadmium sulfide-copper sulfide solar cell acts, a layer 20 of cadmium sulfide is on the electrical conductor 18 Thickness of about 30 evaporated. On the first semiconductor layer 20, which may be to reduce reflections and to etch out grain boundaries with the help of a aqueous hydrochloric acid can be roughened, a copper sulfide layer 22 is applied, what by a chemical reaction for example by immersion in a monovalent Copper ion solution can be done. This copper sulfide layer then has a size of about 0.2 tim thick. On the upper (front) semiconductor layer 22 is now according to the invention a mask of non-conductive material in the form of a layer 24 applied.
This marking layer 24 preferably has the negative shape of a Grid, but other shapes are also possible, whereby the decisive factor is that the masking has free spaces 26 into which then, according to the invention, conductive Material 28 can be introduced. This conductive material 28 can be made of consist of several layers. In the exemplary embodiment, there is the conductive material from layers 30, 32 and 34. Layer 30, also known as the contact layer is preferably galvanically or electrophoretically into the spaces 28 and thus applied to the semiconductor layer 22. The contact layer is used here 30 for producing a good electrically conductive contact to the semiconductor layer 22. The contact layer 30 can preferably consist of gold or palladium. Alternatively, electrophoretically deposited graphite can also be selected. In the exemplary embodiment, a conductive layer 32 is then on the contact layer 30 preferably introduced in the form of electrodeposited nickel to a Permeation barrier to create. Finally, the outer layer 30 is preferably a galvanic one Solder layer applied to create a secure, electrically conductive connection with a conductor track 28 which runs in the upper part 14 of the solar cell 10. This conductor track 28 is used, among other things, to interconnect individual cells into one Solar cell module, as shown by way of example in FIG. 2.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the mask 24 is made of transparent material Material and is optically adapted to the upper part 14 that consists essentially of a cover glass 38 and an adhesive layer 40 and also from the mentioned conductor track 36 composed. The mask 24, which is applied, for example, by screen printing can be made of a material that corresponds to the adhesive layer 40, which preferably consists of a heat seal adhesive. Namely, pass the mask 24 and the adhesive layer 40 made of the same material, there is the advantage that when heat-sealing and pressing the upper and lower parts 14 and 12, a perfect Structure of the solar cell is given.
By the proposal according to the invention that the electrically conductive Contact 28 is only applied to second semiconductor layer 22 when a mask made of non-conductive material that has the negative shape of a grid should have, is applied, there is the advantage that the lattice bars exceedingly can be chosen narrow. Bar widths of 50 - 150 tim thick are possible, whereby the layer thickness of the mask 24 can be 10-50 μm. As a result, it takes place compared to the known cells only slight shadowing of the active area the solar cell, so that its efficiency increases.
Is the structure according to the invention of the mask 24 and that introduced into it electrical contact 28 using the example of a cadmium sulfide copper sulfide solar cell 10, any other solar cell can of course also be used accordingly be formed.
In Fig. 2, a solar cell module 42 is shown in side view, which has a common base plate 44 on which a first electrical contact 46 and semiconductor layers 48 and 50 are applied to then on the Layer 50 to have an electrical contact 52 applied in a manner such as he in connection with the mask 24 and the electrically conductive grid 28 after Fig. 1 has been described. The interconnection of the individual solar cells in the This example is connected in series, then takes place through a connection between conductor tracks 56 running in the upper part 54 of the solar cell module 42 with the first electrical contacts 46 present in the lower part 58 via suitable ones Conductor 60 in the form of, for example, low-melting solder or a conductive one Glue.
