Abstract

The invention provides the capability for indicating that nappies or the like have been soaked (moisture indicator). The moisture-dependent electrical resistance of the nappy or the like is continuously measured and is made evident as a signal by an indicating device when a limit is exceeded. Conventional nappies, particularly nappy panties, can be used as in the past. In order for it to be possible to measure the electrical resistance, it is necessary only for the nappy or the like to be provided with fine electrodes (thin wires or strips of foil) and with an easily detachable electrical connection. A small electronic measurement and transmitting unit is connected to the connection once the nappy has been put on, which unit then triggers a signal, via a receiver which is controlled in a wireless manner, when the nappy has been used (soaked). Figs. 1 and 2 show the construction and method of operation schematically.
