Abstract

The invention relates to a stereoscopic image system in which television engineering is used for the first time. The invention is based on the object of creating a stereoscopic television system which provides for high-quality stereoscopy with low technical expenditure and using conventional apparatus. This object is achieved by the fact that the images recorded by two black/white television cameras standing at eye distance from one another are converted, via only two channels of a colour encoder, into signals of a two-colour mixed image which is supplied to a conventional colour television receiver, the image of which must be viewed through spectacles, the glasses of which are correspondingly coloured. Thus, only two conventional black/white television cameras and one colour encoder are needed for the stereoscopic television system according to the invention, which encoder, however, only acts on two colour channels. The signals formed in the colour encoder for a two-colour mixed image are then optionally recorded via a colour television receiver or a commercially available video recorder and viewed through conventional two-colour stereo spectacles. The system thus provides a black/white image which is sensed to be three-dimensional. The hardware expenditure has thus become minimal and the stereoscopic image reproduction has become easy. <IMAGE>

Description

Stereoskopisches FernsehsystemStereoscopic television system

Stereoskopisches Fernsehsystem Die Erfindung betrifft ein stereoskopisches Fernsehsystem.Stereoscopic Television System The invention relates to a stereoscopic television system Television system.

As is well known, stereo image systems give the viewer the impression that the image content, the ibm example in the form of two flat, through at eye distance Side by side cameras of recorded images is killed, vividly see if care is taken that each eye only has the corresponding image, not however, can capture the adjacent second image. For this purpose the viewer must wear glasses, the lenses of which are wrapped in two different colors, while the two images are reproduced in the corresponding colors, so that the In front of the left eye, the right eye and the one in front of the right eye the left image is filtered out: ert. The two colors used are for this reason so-called opposing colors9 In this case the two need stereoscopic Pictures not; to be individual images located on separate surfaces, but rather the In a so-called mixed image, pixels are known to be distributed over a single surface: n.

However, the equipment required for this form of stereoscopy is technically very complex, because the image recording by means of two different monochromatic Film cameras must be made and the films one above the other on the stereo film must be copied, with the utmost precision of the positional allocation of the images, which must have been recorded absolutely synchronously.

Such stereo films have therefore only rarely been produced and still have no noteworthy distribution found.

The stereo principle has not found its way into television technology, although it has already been suggested, the particular property of the known Color television systems, assembling pictures from groups of three points (red, green, blue), for the stereoscopic image viewing and to use these images through the btereoglasses with a red and a green glass, to be viewed (DT-OS 20 16 547).

Such a solution was flawed because both the inclusion with the television camera, which is equipped with a mirror attachment, as well as some Colored recordings from the two black and white cameras always contain the third color, so that it is not possible to create a strictly two-tone mixed picture; witness, the indispensable Precondition for the exact stereoscopic image reproduction by means of a single Color television receiver is.

The invention is based on the object of a stereoscopic television system to create that with little technical effort and using more conventional Equipment enables high quality stereoscopy.

According to the invention this object is achieved in that the two black and white television cameras at eye distance from each other Images via only two channels of a color coder in signals of a two-color mixed image which are fed to a conventional color television receiver, whose image can be viewed through glasses, the lenses of which are colored accordingly are.

For the stereoscopic television system according to the invention only two conventional black and white television cameras and a color code r required, which, however, is only applied to two color channels. The ones formed in the color encoder Signals for a two-color mixed image are then optionally transmitted via a color television receiver or a commercially available video recorder and recorded through a conventional, two-tone stereo glasses considered. The system therefore delivers something that is felt to be plastic Black-and-white image This means that the outlay on equipment is minimal and the stereoscopic one Image reproduction has become problematic.

The drawing shows an embodiment of a system for implementation of the invention stereoscopic television as a block diagram reproduced.

At the two black and white television cameras arranged at a distance from one another 1 and 2, the color encoder 3 with two colors (green and red) is connected.

The niche image signals generated by the color encoder 3 are of the Color television receiver 4 added and the two-color image through the stereo glasses 5, which is now perceived as plastic.
