"Handle for (ball) racket ¹

The invention relates to (ball) rackets, in particular tennis, squash and badminton rackets with a net-like hitting surface formed from crossing tension strings.

Handles of such rackets are made in different thicknesses and shapes. These handles are symmetrical in shape to their longitudinal axes.

The disadvantage of this state of the art is that a significant number of players cannot hold the grip equally well (securely) in the forehand, backhand, middle grip (slice, stop, etc.) positions. This deficiency is particularly evident in the backhand stroke in tennis. Many players cannot hold the backhand grip securely and switch to the middle grip (backhand slice). The second emergency solution is the two-handed "backhand". In terms of grip technology, however, the two-handed "backhand" is a forehand with the left for a right-hander. A forehand with the right for a left-hander, and the two-handed "backhand" also severely restricts freedom of movement.

The invention is based on the object of creating a handle which makes it possible to securely grasp the backhand grip with one hand in addition to the forehand and middle grip.

This object is achieved according to the invention by shaping the handle asymmetrically to its longitudinal axis(es).

Preferably, the handle is shaped asymmetrically with respect to its longitudinal axis horizontal to the hitting surface and its longitudinal axis perpendicular to the hitting surface of the racket.

This improves the forehand and middle grip, but especially a secure one-handed backhand grip with the thumb on the handle. (Prevents rotation of the wrist.) Furthermore, the asymmetrical shape of the handle advantageously moves the point of impact of the backhand towards the player. Versions for left- or right-handers, as well as in different strengths, are the logical consequence.

The invention is described below by way of example with reference to a drawing in which

Fig. 1 shows a tennis racket 1 with handle 2 schematically with the longitudinal axis 3 perpendicular to the hitting surface. The curved shape of the handle supports the forehand long grip. (Spread index finger locks the wrist.)

Lowered support 5 (Fig. 3+5) for the ring and little fingers, extreme palm support 5a (Fig. 6) ensure a secure forehand grip.

The middle grip is characterized by the extended ball of the thumb rest 6c (Fig.5), the wide thumb rest 6b (Fig.5) and the raised rest 6 (Fig.4+5) of the little finger. The curved handle, the ball of the thumb rest 6c (Fig.5) ("fills the hand"), the support 7 (Fig. 4+5) for the ring and little finger that is pulled down and drawn in to axis 3, the large palm rest 7a drawn in to axis 3 (Fig.3+5) and the extremely large thumb rest 7b drawn in to axis 4 (Fig. 4+5) enable a secure one-handed backhand grip with the thumb resting on the hand.

The features of the invention disclosed in the above description, in the drawings and in the claims can be essential for the realization of the invention in its various embodiments, both individually and in any combination.
