Werkzeugrevolver z. B. für Drehmaschinen weisen in der Regel dreiteilige Stirnverzahnungen (Hirthverzahnung) auf, die zum exakten Verriegeln der Revolverköpfe in den verschiedenen Schaltstellungen dienen. Der Vorteil der dreiteiligen Hirthverzahnung besteht darin, daß der Revolverkopf zum Entriegeln nicht abhebt.
