Description Title Side table

The invention relates to a side table that can be used for many purposes, e.g. when seminar participants have to write while sitting on normal chairs or want to place or put down drinks or other objects next to them.

The invention is based on the task of designing such a side table in such a way that it can be used by both right- and left-handed writers and also enables cost-effective mass production. Furthermore, the side table should be able to be stacked in several pieces and stored and transported in a space-saving manner.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the features of claim 1.

Appropriate further developments of the invention can be found in the subclaims.

The advantages of the side table according to the invention are apparent from the following description of an embodiment with reference to the drawings.

The side table 1 shown essentially consists of a column 2, two support legs 3, two support struts 4 and a table top 5.

At a distance from the lower end of the column 2, the support legs 3, which are arranged at an angle to one another, extend diagonally downwards and each have a section 6 at the lower end that is angled vertically in the position of use. The support struts 4 are arranged at an angle to one another at the upper end of the column 2 and extend horizontally in the position of use of the side table. The table top 5 is attached to the support struts 4 and has an inwardly semicircular recess 8 in the middle of its rear edge 7 closest to the column 2. The width of the recess 8 corresponds to the diameter of the column 2, which in the embodiment shown consists of a round tube, in order to accommodate the column 2 of the next upper side table 1 when stacked, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5.

As can be seen from the top view of Fig. 2, the support legs 3 and the support struts 4 for the table top 5 are positioned at the same angle as one another when viewed from above. The support legs 3 and support struts 4 can also be made of tubular profiles.

A first stacking buffer 9 is attached under the table top 5 near the pillar 2, and a second stacking buffer 10 is attached under the table top 5 at a certain distance from the outer ends of the support struts 4. The first stacking buffer 9 has a greater height than the two second stacking buffers 10. This prevents a lower base plate 11 of the next highest side table 1 from touching the pillar 2 of the next lowest side table in the stack when stacking several side tables 1, as can be clearly seen in Fig. 4.

When stacking, the recess 8 in the table top 5 accommodates the upper end of the column 2 of the next side table 1 in the stack. As shown, up to three side tables 1 can be stacked in a space-saving manner, which is advantageous for storage when not in use and for transport.

The lower angled sections 6 of the support legs also have base plates 12, which, like the base plate 11 of the standing column 2, can have a lower coating made of plastic, possibly made of non-slip plastic or rubber.

Typical dimensions of the side table 1 are: table top 50 x 35 cm, height 72 cm.

The side table 1 can be used not only at the side, but also directly in front of a chair. Due to the special arrangement of the support legs 3, the side table 1 can be placed on the right or left of any chair, depending on whether the user writes right-handed or left-handed. The support legs 3 are never a hindrance, even if the side table 1 is placed directly in front of the chair. Two individual side tables 1 can also be placed against each other to form a larger table.

The recess 8 in the table top 5 ensures that the table tops 5 can be nested tightly together when stacked and do not slip sideways. The stacking buffers 9, 10 also prevent damage during stacking and transport.

Side table (1) with a column (2) to which two support legs (3) are attached at a distance from the lower end of the column and extend diagonally downwards, and to the upper end of which two support struts (4) for a table top (5) are attached, also arranged at an angle to one another and extending horizontally, wherein a first stacking buffer (9) is provided under the table top (5) near the column (2) and a second stacking buffer (10) is provided near the outer end of each support strut (4), wherein the first stacking buffer (9) has a greater height dimension than the two second stacking buffers (10). 2.
