Synthetische hochpolymere Faserstoffe werden z.B. in Autoluftfiltern, chirurgischen Gesichtsmasken und Klimaanlagen verwendet. Diese synthetischen hochpolymeren Faserstoffe, vor allem aus dem Bereich der Polyolefine, laden sich wegen ihres hohen elektrischen Widerstandes allein durch die Berührung mit der Luft stark elektrostatisch auf bzw. besitzen diese Eigenschaft durch die Produktion als Elektrete.Synthetic high-polymer fibers are used in car air filters, surgical face masks and air conditioning systems, for example.
