Nail help

The invention consists of a device with the help of which metal pins (nails) can be easily hammered into hard materials such as concrete, brick or plastered walls. This makes it possible to hang pictures or decorative objects on walls where otherwise a hole, a dowel and a screw-in hook would be required. The dust that is created by drilling is largely avoided by using the nail aid according to the invention.

Nailing aids that hold metal pins in place so that nails can be used in places that are difficult to access - e.g. overhead - are well known. However, these systems also require a hammer, compressed air, spring force or electricity to carry out the nailing process.

The problem of the invention is therefore:

How can metal pins be driven into hard materials such as concrete walls, etc., simply and reliably using only a nail tool that can be produced inexpensively and muscle power, without the use of additional tools, electricity, compressed air or other technical energy sources?

The invention solves this problem by using steel pins with a shaped tip as metal pins. These steel pins are inserted into a holder, in which there is a magnetized insert sleeve. This prevents the steel pin from falling out. The holder contains a movable part which has a relatively high mass. The steel pin is driven forwards by vigorous back and forth movement. The force of the heavy, movable part is largely transferred to the tip of the steel pin, so that it can also be driven into hard materials such as concrete, bricks and even aluminum.

The embodiment of a nail aid shown in the drawings consists essentially of a housing part (1) which has a small opening (6) on one side and a larger opening (7) on the opposite side, as well as an inner part (2) in which a metal core (3) is embedded. A handle (8) is molded onto the inner part (2) for easy handling.

A magnetizable insert bushing (5) is incorporated into the small opening (6a) of the housing part (1) in such a way that its attractive force acts on the steel pin (4) which is inserted into its inner bore (6) and fixes it against falling out.

The steel pin (4) is driven forward by the inner part (2) with the core (3) moving back and forth, as the core (3) of the inner part (2) hits the steel pin (4) at point (9) during the forward movement. The force of the inner part (2) and the core (3) is largely transferred to the steel pin (4) at the moment of impact with the steel pin (4) (impulse). To enable the steel pin (4) to penetrate a hard medium even more easily, it has a molded tip (10).

Cost-effective production of the nail aid is ensured by the simple structure and the use of few individual parts.
