Description

Dekoratives VerbundglasDecorative laminated glass

BeschreibungDescription

The innovation relates to a decorative laminated glass made of at least two glass panes and an intermediate layer containing a coloured image or a coloured decoration made of organic dyes, which in turn consists of two polyvinyl butyral films bonded together, of which one PVB film is provided with the image or decoration on the side bonded to the other PVB film.

A decorative laminated glass pane of this type is known from DE 2837768 Al, whereby the decoration in this known laminated glass pane can consist of organic or inorganic dyes. The usual polyvinyl butyral films have a thickness of less than 0.4 mm. If the colored image or decoration consists of organic colors under these conditions, the colors will fade over time under the influence of UV rays. Decorative laminated glass panes of this type are therefore not lightfast.

The innovation is based on the task of providing a decorative laminated glass of the structure mentioned above, which has a high light resistance even when organic dyes are used.

The laminated glass according to the innovation is characterized by the fact that the image or decoration made of organic colors between the polyvinyl butyral films have an increased UV absorption.

Da auch die üblichen Polyvinylbutyralfolien eine gewisse UV-Absorption zeigen, kann der gewünschte Zweck dadurchSince the usual polyvinyl butyral films also show a certain UV absorption, the desired purpose can be achieved

This can be achieved by using PVB films of the usual composition, but with a greater thickness, so that sufficient light protection of the organic colors is guaranteed. It has been shown that this condition is met when PVB films of the usual composition, but with a thickness of at least 0.76 mm, are used. Of course, thinner films made of PVB or other thermoplastic materials can also be used if the UV absorption of these materials is increased accordingly, if necessary due to suitable additives.

The colored images or decorations can basically be applied directly to one of the two PVB films using all known application methods, for example by hand, using the airbrush method or using a printing method, such as screen printing.

A laminated glass pane designed in accordance with the innovation can also be combined with one or more additional layers, for example with one or more colored films, thereby expanding the decorative and design options.

The subject matter of the innovation is explained in more detail with reference to the drawing, which shows a section through a preferred embodiment of the invention.

Vor dem Verbindeprozeß werden die beidenThe laminated glass pane comprises two glass panes 1, 2 made of colorless float glass, each 4 mm thick. The two float glass panes 1, 2 are connected to one another via the thermoplastic intermediate layer 3, whereby the connection is made using one of the known bonding processes using heat and pressure. The intermediate layer 3 is made up of two films 4, 5 made of polyvinyl butyral. Each of the two films 4 and 5 has a thickness of 0.76 mm. Before the bonding process, the two

Films 4 and 5 are placed on top of each other. During the bonding process they fuse together to form a continuous layer.

Before the two films 4 and 5 are put together, a single-colour or multi-coloured decoration made of an organic acrylic paint 6 is applied to the surface of the film 5 that comes into contact with the film 4 using any known method. The paint 6 is applied in such a concentration that the transparency is maintained through the colour layer. During the subsequent bonding process using heat and pressure, the paint 6 penetrates the surface of the PVB films 4 and 5. Despite the existing colour layer, the two PVB films 4 and 5 fuse together completely during the bonding process. The finished laminated glass pane, with the coloured image 6 contained in it, also has the safety glass properties known for laminated glass. The usual tests for this were passed on sample panes with positive results. Even with prolonged, intensive UV radiation, the colours show no signs of yellowing.
