Abstract

1. A process for drying damp webs of paper or cardboard, in particular webs which are subsequently to be coated, to a moisture content of 2-8% by combined capacitive high frequency and cylinder drying, characterised in that the web (1) is first dried to a moisture content of 10-20% by means of cylinder drying, then to a moisture content of about 6-10% by means of high frequency and finally to the desired final moisture content of between 2 and 8% by means of cylinder drying.
