The types of paper used for the collection bags are such that the bags can be recycled together with their contents (newspapers and magazines)

The invention relates to the collection, stacking and packaging of newspapers and magazines. The purpose of the invention is to collect, stack and package newspapers and magazines in a paper bag in a simple manner.

This is a specially shaped paper bag that can be recycled together with its contents (old newspapers and magazines) in a waste paper processing plant. For this purpose, the paper bags are made from paper that is made exclusively of light fibers. This choice of material and the resulting similarity of type between the collected goods and the collection container make it possible to return old newspapers and magazines in a "pure" manner.

To make it easier to fill the bags in households, they can be hung on a frame (holder); the filled bags are closed with an adhesive tab. Handles make it easier to transport the collection containers. Time-consuming sorting work at waste paper retailers or waste paper recyclers is no longer necessary.

Why does it make sense to return old newspapers and magazines in their original form?

The use of waste paper (old barrels) in paper and cardboard production brings ecological and economic advantages. This is mainly due to the fact that today (1995) in Germany a waste paper usage rate of 58 percent - across all types of paper - has been achieved. For some types of paper, the proportion of secondary fibers used is even significantly higher.

The above-mentioned ecological and economic advantages of using recycled fibers have prompted the paper industry to build up production capacities for the processing (deinking) of recycled paper and for the processing of secondary fibers in paper production. The regulatory authority has also reacted: It has not yet implemented its goal of further increasing the rate of recycled fiber use in a regulation (Waste Paper Regulation); however, it wants to achieve the same through the voluntary commitment agreed with the "graphic paper chain" in 1994: The rate of recycled paper use should be 60 percent in 2000. A further increase does not seem to be out of the question.

However, in order to achieve this goal and not to confront the industry with an unpredictable waste paper market and thus with unacceptable financial risks, the paper industry needs

- a largely constant supply of waste paper (in terms of quantity and quality).

This requirement is currently only partially met. In particular, the efforts of Duales System Deutschland GmbH (DSD), which is responsible for collecting and recycling sales packaging, to introduce the mixed bin for waste paper across the board will significantly improve the provision of high-quality

Waste paper types make it difficult. Old newspapers and magazines have to be laboriously sorted out from the contents of the mixed bins and separated from other papers (brown packaging paper and cardboard).

The proposed collection system has the following advantages:

1. Comfort advantage for households

The system offers a convenience advantage for households. Old newspapers can be easily stacked and then - after the bags have been closed with the adhesive flap - made very easy to collect.

2. Established disposal routes can be used

The collection bags can be returned via all three of the disposal channels currently in use. The effectiveness of all three return systems is improved:

a. Mixed paper bin

The collection bags are thrown into a bin together with wrapping paper and cardboard. The subsequent sorting effort is significantly reduced. In order to get to the comparatively high-quality old newspapers/magazines, all that is needed is to "fish out" the Samrael bags from the mixed waste paper by positive sorting.

b. Bundle collection

The old newspapers and magazines do not have to be tied up in a complicated way for the bundle collection. The collection bags are stacked at the side of the road for the bundle collection.

c. Collection container

The waste paper containers located in squares and street corners are very easy to use with the collection bags. The delivery from the household to the container and the subsequent necessary sorting work are made easier.

3. Single-grade waste paper for the paper industry

Collection bags also have advantages for the paper industry: the waste paper required is sorted. Since the material chosen for the collection bags can be pulped together with the old newspapers and magazines in the pulper, no additional work (sorting work) is required. In addition, the high-quality paper used for the bags improves the fiber mixture used as a raw material in further processing (manufacturing paper using waste fibers).

4. Product responsibility and image effect for publishers

The waste paper bags - together with the holding racks - offer publishers the opportunity to make an important contribution to their product responsibility. They thus offer households an attractive solution to the problem of stacking and collecting old newspapers and magazines easily and neatly.

Purpose of the invention:

The paper collection bags made of the same material offer a system with which newspapers and magazines can be easily collected and stacked and which also makes it possible to feed the filled paper collection bags to the waste paper processing plant without further sorting.

For use, the paper bag is hung in a holder frame (1) so that the paper bag is always kept open. To hang the bags, the frame has two brackets (2) that can be used to hang openings (slots) (5) in the collection bag.

The device is shown in its complete state in Figure A. It consists of the holding frame (1), the hanging brackets (2), and the matching paper bag (3).

In order to be able to hang the bag on the hanging brackets, slits (5) are cut out in the paper bag. To be able to transport the bag, it has two handles (4). Before transport, the collection bag is closed with a two-part lid (6); an adhesive surface (7) enables the collection bag to be easily closed.

Device made of steel, wood or plastic for collecting, stacking and packing newspapers and magazines, characterized by a collection bag (3) that can be hung in a holding frame (1), whereby this collection bag is made of paper that is composed exclusively of "light" fibers, which results in purity of type between the collection container (bag) and the collected goods (old newspapers and magazines). 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the holding frame (1) has holding brackets (2) over which slots (5) cut out in the collecting bag can be inserted. 3. Device according to claim 1 and 2, characterized in that a collecting bag (3) is always kept open by hanging it in the holding bracket (2). 4. Device according to claim 1, 2, 3, characterized in that the collecting bag has two handles (4) which enable the filled collecting bags to be easily transported. 5. Device according to claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the collecting bag can be closed with a two-part lid (6). 6. Device according to claims 1 to 5, characterized in that an adhesive strip (7) enables the lid and thus the collection bag to be kept closed.
