Beschreibung :Description :
The invention relates to a tablespoon for food intake.
The well-known spoons for eating consist of little to inflexible or hard materials, such as wood, plastic, metal, porcelain or ceramic, among others, whereby the part of the spoon that is placed in the mouth, in which the food is located, cannot be bent or can only be bent slightly by the tongue or facial muscles under physiological conditions.
The usual food intake takes place through adaptation of mimic muscles (facial muscles), mainly through deformation of the orbicularis oris muscle (circular muscle around the mouth opening), which seals the mouth part of the spoon at the transition to the handle, with subsequent pulling out of the spoon from the then closed oral cavity, while simultaneously swallowing.
For individuals whose facial muscles are not functional or only partially functional, as well as for those individuals who have not yet learned the motor sequence of the facial muscles for the above-described food intake, or are not able to do so, eating with the spoons known to date becomes impossible, or difficult and time-consuming, even with the help of another person.
Zu diesem Individuenkreis zählen beispielsweise :This group of individuals includes, for example:
oder Flasche aufgenommen haben- Infants who have previously only received food by sucking at their mother’s breast
or bottle
- Personen mit Facialis-Lähmung nach Schlaganfall oder Unfall- People with facial paralysis after a stroke or accident
- Personen mit sonstiger krankheitsbedingter Facialis-Lähmung oder
Faciali s-Funkt ionseinschränkung- Persons with other disease-related facial paralysis or
Facial function impairment
- Tiere- Animals
The aim of the invention according to claim 1 is to enable or facilitate the intake of food using a spoon, insofar as a functional tongue, or at least pharyngeal and jaw muscles, can be expected.
With the soft mouth part of the spoon described in patent claim 1, simply closing the mouth and then pulling out the mouth part, which flattens in the process, is sufficient for taking in food. If necessary, if the tongue is functioning properly, it could also flatten the soft mouth part towards the palate, so that the food is pressed sideways away from the spoon.
For babies who are not yet able to eat with a rigid spoon, this invention enables an earlier transition to eating mushy food using a spoon, which also serves as a learning aid. The other people described above, or their caregivers, are provided with a previously unknown level of help with eating and feeding. The feeding of food or medication to various animal species is also made easier by the flexible spoon mouthpiece.
