With the bite indicators known to date, the bite is indicated directly on or under the rod. This happens:

a.) through complex, expensive, electronic indicators which are often prone to malfunctions when wet and disturb the desired peace and quiet when fishing with annoying beeping when the bite is indicated,

b.) by indicators attached to the line, which sometimes get tangled in the line in strong winds, can get caught in the undergrowth or rubble underneath the rod, are often difficult to remove and, above all, only allow fishing with the bail closed.

c.) by means of little bells which are usually attached to the tip of the fishing rod, are often difficult to remove and only allow fishing with the bracket closed.

The new bite indicator for bottom fishing ( Figure 1 ) works purely mechanically. All materials used are rust-proof. This means that the bite indicator is completely maintenance-free. It consists of the following parts: arm (1), eccentric disc (2), indicator (3), axle (4), 2 stops (5), bearing rod (6), slotted bushing (7), clamp holder (8), screw (9) and bell ( 10 ).

The new bite indicator ( Figure 3 ) is mounted vertically on the rod (12) at approximately the height of the line spool (11) and is positioned using the clamp holder (8).

To make the bite indicator ready for use, the fishing line ( 13 ) is placed over the hook (14) after casting the bait. The bracket (15) on the reel (II 6) can then be opened to allow the fishing line ( 13 ) to run freely when a bite occurs.

If a bite occurs, ie the fish takes the bait and thus pulls on the fishing line ( 13 ), the arm (1) is pivoted about the pivot point in the bolt (4) and automatically folds into the bite indicator position ( Figure 7 ) due to the shift in the center of gravity of the eccentric disk (2) and indicator (3). During this process, the fishing line ( 13 ) automatically frees itself from the hook (14) and the fish can take the bait without resistance.

The bite can now be clearly seen ( Figure 7) and is clearly visible in the dark with the integrated glow stick (15) thanks to the colored indicator now positioned vertically at the top (3) and is clearly audible when the bell is mounted ( Figure 2).

A rotation of 180° is made from the basic position ( Figure 5 ) to the bite indication position ( Figure 7 ). After about 130°, the position is reached ( Figure 6 ) in which the arm ( 1 ) folds over automatically. The basic position ( Figure 5 ) as well as the bite indication position ( Figure 7) are fixed by stops (5) (Figures 9+10).

To catch the fish, the complete bite indicator can now be easily removed from the slotted bushing (7), ie the clamp holder (8) and screw (9) remain mounted on the rod (12). The easy removal of the bite indicator is ensured by the fact that the bearing rod (6), on the lower part of which a surface ( 18 ) is attached, is easily mounted in the slot (17) of the slotted bushing (7) ( Figure 4 ).

In order to influence the resistance of the fishing line ( 13 ) during a bite, the indicator (3) on the arm (1) can be moved to shift the centre of gravity ( Figure 8).
