The cigarette snuffer for car ashtrays brings a large number of advantages and conveniences for drivers who smoke while driving, increasing not only the comfort but also the safety of driving.

A cigarette lighter has been installed in every car and truck for many years, but extinguishing cigarette lighters is still a considerable problem in almost all vehicles.

When the cigarette has been smoked, you put the cigarette butt into the opening of the snuffer and the embers will be extinguished in about 3 to 8 seconds, depending on the width of the opening. The device consists of a tube (No. 1) made of fireproof material, which is closed at the lower end by a plate (No. 2).

This plate can be used to open the lower opening of the tube by operating a lever (No. 3 in each case), so that the cigarette butt, extinguished in a matter of seconds, can fall into the ashtray.

Opening the bottom of the tube can be done in several ways:

1. By moving the plate (Fig. 1 and 2)

2. By rotating the plate around a pivot point (No. 4 each) (Fig. 3 and 4)

3. By tilting the plate downwards, which is attached to a hinge on one side (No. 6 in each case) and which is returned to the starting position by a compression spring or tension spring (No. 5 in each case) and closes the tube again at the bottom. (Fig. 5, 6, 7 and 8)

There are already various types of cigarette ember extinguishers, but with all of them you have to "fiddle" the cigarette butt out of the tube once it has been extinguished or turn the device over so that the cigarette butt falls out. In addition, ash residue quickly accumulates in the tube and so it has to be turned over and emptied regularly so that it can be used again.

There is also a version where the tube has an opening at the bottom, but this tube has to be very narrow, otherwise it won't work, and the opening has to narrow even further towards the bottom so that the glowing cigarette remains can't fall through immediately. This version has the disadvantage that you have to "aim" very precisely because of the narrow opening, and you also have to "fiddle" the cigarette remains out again before you can use the device again. For example, if you smoke filterless cigarettes for a very short length and then put the rest in this device, you may have considerable difficulty getting the short cigarette remains out again.

All of these other types of fire extinguishers require more time and attention to operate and would therefore distract you from the main task of driving for an unnecessarily long time.
