Description

The invention relates to a pillow according to claim 1, which is intended to enable the best possible support of the head, neck and throat from an orthopedic point of view.

There are already countless different types of pillows, made from a variety of materials and in a variety of shapes, but they all have serious disadvantages.

Currently, the most popular pillows in Germany are those with loose fillings made of poultry feathers, foam rods, EPS beads, horsehair, sheep's wool, polyester wadding, etc. In principle, these pillows can usually be optimally adapted to the personal anatomy because you can press them down, crumple them and fold them until you feel comfortable. However, if you change position during sleep, you can easily end up in an orthopedically unfavorable position that cannot be adjusted, or you wake up, thus interrupting your sleep.

More and more experts in the field of orthopedics are now advising against such pillows.

So-called "orthopedic head and neck pillows" have also been around for a long time. As with the invention, a pre-formed pillow made of foam or foam rubber is usually offered. The shape is designed so that good support is achieved with the right anatomy. (Fig. 1 and 2) In order to achieve truly orthopedically useful support, the height and shape of the pillow must be tailored to the user. Depending on the diameter and shape of the head, neck width, shoulder width and spine shape and the resulting differences in measurements (Fig. 3 and 4), the shape of the pillow must ideally be adapted. The reality is that today, at best, pillows are offered that have a small height adjustment by inserting or removing one or more cushion panels, or by using a pillow core that can be inflated with air, or by folding. The height adjustment is limited to a few centimeters in each case. In addition, some pillows are offered in different sizes, but the problem is that you only really know after several days of use whether you have made the right choice.

Another problem is that you only know after hours or days whether the firmness of the pillow is comfortable for you in the long term. Many people complain that the ear they were lying on at night hurts in the morning. Often, pillows that do not suit the user are put aside after a while in disappointment, the money wasted.

It is more or less left to chance whether you choose the right pillow.

Due to the special shape, the three-part structure and the use of foam and/or foam rubber of varying firmness in the pillow according to the invention, the disadvantages of the previously known pillows are not 100% resolved, but the risk of not being able to cope with the pillow is minimized.

Using example measurements, it is intended to show how many options are open to the owner of the pillow according to the invention. (Fig. 5 and 6) To keep the illustration clear, only the respective pillow height in the neck area and the firmness are given, whereby in the illustrations the softer, shaped or molded foam part is designated with 1, the firmer with 2. The flat cut is designated with 3.

The following variations are possible:

Height 4 cm in 2 strengths {Fig. 7 and 9)

Height 6 cm in 2 strengths (Fig. 11 and 13)

Height 8 cm in 4 strengths (Fig. 8, 10, 24 and 26)

The fine height gradations in 20 mm increments and the available firmness levels cover the range for comfortable and orthopedically correct lying from toddlers to broad-shouldered adults.

The pillow according to the invention can therefore be purchased by practically anyone without any major concerns, and the probability that the individually correct variant is not included is extremely low.

Figures 3 and 4 show which gaps between the mattress and the pillow should be filled. These gaps of course vary from person to person.

Figure 5 shows a possible application of the pillow according to the invention. The dimensions are examples. The pillow consists, among other things, of a softer, cut-to-size or molded foam or foam rubber, which is designated here with 1. The firmer counterpart is designated with 2.

Figure 6 shows the flat cut, designated 3. The dimensions are exemplary.

Figures 7 to 30 show the various possible uses and combinations of the parts marked 1, 2 and 3.

Claims (10)

1.) Pillow for orthopedically perfect support of the head, neck and nape area, consisting of 3 foam and/or foam rubber parts, one of which is a flat cut, while the other two parts, which are identical in shape or at least only slightly different from each other, are cut to shape or foamed. Characterized by the fact that by combining the individual parts in different ways, or by omitting one or two parts, a variety of different firmness and heights of support surfaces for the head, neck and nape area are possible, thus allowing for very good adaptability to different body shapes and individual wishes in terms of firmness. 2.) Pillow according to claim 1, characterized in that the individual parts are loose and are only held together for use by a commercially available or custom-sewn textile cover. 3.) Pillow according to claim 1 and/or 2, characterized in that the surface dimensions of all 3 parts are the same or approximately the same and are expediently 400 to 800 mm in width and 300 to 450 mm in depth. 4.) Pillow according to one or more of claims 1 - 3, characterized in that the shaped or foamed parts, when viewed from the side, each have two humps of different heights with a valley in between and that the material thickness at the highest point of the small hump is 20 - 60 mm, at the highest point of the larger hump 60 - 120 mm and at the lowest point of the valley 10 - 50 mm, whereby the dimensions are to be coordinated so that the two humps are actually of different heights and the valley forms the lowest point. 5.) Pillow according to one or more of claims 1-4, characterized in that the flat cut has a thickness of 10 - 60 mm, whereby the thickness appropriate in the individual case can possibly also be achieved by stacking several plates on top of one another. 6.)
