The invention relates to an additional device for extending and/or relocating an existing telephone connection unit.

Telephone connection units (TAE) represent the network termination of the network operator, e.g. Telekom. The terminal device, e.g. a telephone, is connected to it via a plug-in element. For simple terminal devices, a connection unit with a socket is sufficient for telephone operation.

In order to be able to operate additional devices, such as additional telephones and/or fax machines, these types of connection units generally have to be replaced with extended ones with additional TAE sockets.

The invention was based on the task of avoiding the replacement of a simple connection unit when additional devices are required and of enabling the connection to be extended or relocated to other rooms, for example an apartment, in a simple manner.

This object is achieved by the invention as set out in the first claim. Further advantageous measures are the subject of the subclaims.

An additional unit 2, for example, has three TAE sockets 3. These are connected to a socket 4 by appropriate cabling or a circuit board. A standard connection cord 5 is plugged into the socket 4, which has a TAE plug 6 at its other end. A recess for the TAE plug 6 is provided in the housing of the additional unit 2. A locking bracket is used to hold the TAE plug 6 in place.

When the TAE plug 6 is engaged behind the locking lug 7, the additional unit 2 can be plugged directly onto the TAE 1 (Fig. I ₇ 2). In this way, for example, the TAE 1 intended for simple telephone operation is expanded for the connection of additional terminal devices.

Furthermore, if the additional unit 2 is placed directly on the TAE 1 and a strong mechanical impact is applied to the additional unit 2, an established connection remains, since the TAE plug 6 snaps out of its fixed position.

If a longer commercially available connecting cord 5 is used, the connection can also be laid without any problem (Fig. 3).

The advantage of this additional unit 2 is that it makes it easy to expand and/or extend the TAE 1. In addition, the user can determine the length of the connecting cable 5.

Claims (3)

Protection claims: 1. Additional unit (2) for extending and/or relocating an existing telephone connection unit (1), characterized in that the additional unit (2) has a recess in the housing for receiving a plug (6) which is fixed in position by means of a locking holder (7) so that the additional unit (2) can be plugged directly onto the telephone connection unit (1). 2. Additional unit according to claim 1, characterized in that it has several connection sockets (3) which are electrically connected to a socket (4) and that a commercially available connection cord (5) is used for the connection between the socket (4) and the telephone connection unit (1). 3. Additional unit according to claim 1, characterized in that the plug (6) of the connecting cord (5) is detachably fastened in the housing of the additional unit (2).
