Description
The invention relates to a filter cloth for filter presses, in particular for removing liquids from a fibrous material to be pressed, such as beet pulp or the like.
When making sugar from sugar beet, the boiled or otherwise processed beet pulp is pressed using filter presses to remove all moisture from the pulp. The beet pulp is arranged in several layers on top of each other between filter cloths, which are then pressed together by the upper and lower pressure plates of a hydraulic filter pressure press, with the liquid still contained in the pulp flowing out the side. The pulp, which is more or less dry after pressing, can be burned or used for other purposes.
When the beet pulp is pressed, part of the material being pressed is carried along by the liquid that comes out of the side and is thrown outwards. The filter cloths are pressed together very tightly and the pressed filter cakes stick stubbornly to the filter cloths and are reluctant to come off even when they are discharged from the deflection rollers. The tough material being pressed sticks particularly firmly to smooth filter cloths made of wire mesh and can only be removed with difficulty using mechanical scrapers. Filter cloths made of textile fabric, on the other hand, which separate more easily from a dense filter cake, are very dense and do not have any outstanding
The pressed material is therefore not sufficiently dewatered even at very high pressing pressures, but rather only the textile filter cloths are subjected to high stress, which is therefore subject to high wear. The object of the invention is to create a filter cloth for filter presses of the type described in more detail at the beginning, with which any remaining moisture can be almost completely removed from a fibrous pressed material and it is ensured that the pressed filter cake is automatically released from the pressure surfaces of the press when it is discharged from the press. In addition, the filter cloth should be very strong and have a long service life.
This object is achieved with the invention by a multi-layer fabric, under whose outer layer of multifilament threads facing the material to be pressed at least one inner layer of bundled or twisted monofilament threads is arranged. The bundled or twisted monofilament threads arranged inside the multi-layer fabric act like drainpipes, along which the liquid still present in the material to be pressed can flow without any problem, reaching the edges of the fabric and exiting the fabric at the side. The spaces between the bundled or twisted monofilament threads are sufficient to ensure good drainage.
On the other hand, the outer surfaces of the fabric, woven from multifilament threads, offer the material to be pressed a sufficiently rough surface that moves during transport, so that the filter cakes that are transported away can easily be detached from the filter cloth and fall off easily at a turning point in the filter belt. The surface of the filter cloth is not subjected to mechanical stress by squeegees or scratches. It therefore wears out very little and has a long service life.
It is particularly useful if the inner layer of the filter cloth consists of twisted metal wires. These retain their shape even under the transverse pressure of the press and keep the intermediate
Außerdem verleihen die Metalldrähte dem Filtertuch eine hohe mechanische Festigkeit.spaces between the individual wires so that the liquid can flow freely to the side. In addition, the metal wires give the filter cloth a high level of mechanical strength.
In order to carry out the pressing process economically, it is advisable to arrange many layers of material to be pressed one on top of the other, with a layer of material to be pressed between two filter cloths. The fabric of each filter cloth is then advantageously at least three-layered, with bundles or ropes of metal wires running in the weft direction being arranged between two outer fabric layers, whose multifilament threads in warp and weft consist of spun plastic fibers. Each filter cloth then faces each layer of material to be pressed with an outer fabric layer made of multifilament threads, so that both the top and bottom of each filter cake layer can be easily detached from the filter cloth when the filter cake package moves out of the filter press and the filter cloths run over deflection rollers and allow the pressed filter cake to fall out.
In order to achieve a particularly good drainage effect, the stranded monofilament threads or wires running in the weft direction have a smaller lay length than the multifilament threads, and the diameter of the monofilament threads is significantly larger than the diameter of the multifilament threads in the outer fabric layers. In a particularly favorable arrangement, the inner layer consists of thin stainless steel cables, each made up of fourteen monofilament threads with an individual diameter of 0.20 mm. The multifilament threads in the outer layer are preferably made of polyester and each have 494 individual filaments in the weft direction with a diameter of 0.025 mm. The diameter of the monofilament threads is then eight times larger than the diameter of the individual fibers in the multifilament threads, but it can also be even larger.
Wenn das Filtertuch als endloses Filterband ausgebildet ist, sind die Metalldrahtbündel oder -seile quer zur Laufrichtung desIf the filter cloth is designed as an endless filter belt, the metal wire bundles or ropes are arranged transversely to the running direction of the
Hierdurch ist gewährleistet, daß die ausgepreßte Flüssigkeit vollständig an den Seitenrändern des Filterbandes austritt.band are tied into the fabric and their ends reach at least to the side edges of the filter band. This ensures that the squeezed-out liquid completely escapes from the side edges of the filter band.
Further features and advantages of the invention emerge from the following description and the drawing, in which a preferred embodiment of the invention is explained schematically using an example that shows a filter belt or a filter cloth in longitudinal section on a greatly enlarged and also distorted scale.
The filter cloth 10 shown in the drawing is one of ten filter cloths which enclose nine layers of boiled sugar beet pulp between them and lead them into a filter press in which the material to be pressed is pressed out transversely to the longitudinal direction 11 of the filter cloths.
The filter cloth 10 consists of a multi-layered fabric 12, in the present embodiment three-layered, which has two outer layers 13 and 15 and an inner layer 14. The terms "outer layer" and "inner layer" here refer only to the weft threads 16 and 17 of the outer fabric surfaces and the weft threads 18 of the inner fabric surface, which are bound by the warp threads 19, 20 and 21 of the fabric.
In the drawing, the fabric is shown pulled apart for the sake of clarity, so that one might get the impression that the weft threads 16, 17 and 18 and the warp threads 19, 20 and 21 are far apart from each other. In reality, however, the threads are of course lying close together, with the warp threads enclosing the weft threads over part of their circumference and also being pressed together laterally at their intersection points.
While the weft threads 16 and 17 of the outer layers 13 and 15 and all warp threads 19, 20 and 21 consist of multifilament threads 22, which are indicated by cross-hatching in the outer layers 13 and 15, the weft threads 18 of the inner layer 14 are formed by monofilament threads 23. These monofilament threads can be monofilament plastic wires combined into a bundle. In the preferred embodiment shown here, however, the monofilament threads are metal wires that are stranded together.
The multifilament threads 22 of the warp and weft of the two outer fabric layers 13 and 15 consist of spun synthetic fibers, preferably polyester or polyetheretherketone (PEEK). However, they can also be made of carbon fibers or polyamides. The lay length of the multifilament threads is significantly greater than the lay length of the twisted or stranded monofilament threads.
If the filter cloth 10 is designed as an endless filter belt, in which the warp threads 19, 20 and 21 run in the longitudinal direction 11 and the weft threads 16, 17 and 18 run transversely thereto, the ends of the metal wire bundles or ropes 23 reach to the side edges of the filter belt. They form the transverse drainage of the filter belt, from which the liquid pressed out of the material to be pressed flows out laterally.
Although the drawing only shows a three-layer fabric, it can be seen that the fabric can also have five to seven layers or even more layers. The only important thing is that the outer layers consisting of multifilament threads face the material to be pressed and that the weft threads 18 made of monofilament threads do not lie on a surface of the fabric that faces the material to be pressed.
Beispielsweise können die monofilen Fäden 23 der In-The invention is not limited to the embodiment shown and described, but several changes and additions are possible without departing from the scope of the invention. For example, the monofilament threads 23 of the invention can
It is also possible to wrap wire around the stranded metal wires 23. Furthermore, different thread diameters can be used for the warp and weft for the outer layer, whereby it has proven to be useful to make the warp threads 19, 20 and 21 one third thicker than the weft threads 16 and 17. The bundles or ropes made of monofilament threads 23 should always be somewhat thicker than the weft threads 16 and 17 of the outer layers 13 and 15.
