KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The invention relates to the construction of a tire casing for pneumatic tires, using a special fabric insert on the inside of the tread. The fabric insert with warp threads running in the circumferential direction and transverse weft threads is incorporated into the rubber in a multi-layered manner in a known manner and has to meet the need for greater elasticity in the central running side of the jacket - compared to the durability requirements on the side parts - to be sufficient in the zone or central lane extending on this run or track side relatively wide loom, as by determining the appropriate distance Weaving threads can be achieved, while the fabric edges extending over the side parts are closely meshed or are tightly woven. In connection with this arrangement there is the new essential in the fact that the warp threads are in that coarser or wider-meshed part thicker or larger in diameter
. wählt werden, .als die an den Seitenteilen . durchlaufenden Kettenfäden.. than those on the side panels . continuous chain threads.

An inner, multi-layered fabric strip is used to build up the tire casing and an outer tread made of rubber or rubber-like fabric is used. The first part, which expediently consists of a coherent, consists of strips wound in a spiral with superimposition of the windings, is formed from tissue, whose Warp threads go around the circumference of the mat while the weft threads lie across the tire.
The finished tire 1 (Fig. 1) is with a outer tread 2 and an inner piece of fabric, which consists of a number of previously intertwined threads is formed. The threads are intertwined such that they conform to the final shape of the tire. In the present embodiment the inner piece of fabric is composed of the warp threads 3, 4 and the weft threads 5. It is of great importance that the tread is flexible, but is so much in the transverse as well as in the Longitudinal direction not lengthened or expanded.
Der Gewebestreifen wirdThe fabric is preferably wound in layers from a single length, as in FIG Fig. 3 indicated, in which three layers 6 are shown, but their number is also enlarged can be. The fabric strip will
For this purpose, the Weaving the strip uses a take-up reel that is its largest diameter in the Center has and tapers at both ends, the middle warp threads 4, the lie under the tread, are chosen to be stronger than the side chains 3 and in the finished Tissues are longer.
With the sides those side parts are generally referred to that on the edges of the Wheel tires lie.
The warp threads that run the circumference of the tire are substantial inextensible, so that the tire does not expand or enlarge in the direction of its length can. In the same way, the weft threads are also not expandable, so that a transverse enlargement of the tire is also prevented is. This avoids the disadvantages inherent in a knitted tire fabric, or those fabrics in which the threads are not taut in the tire.
The warp threads 4 are of a larger diameter and are at a greater distance from each other than the side chains 3. The weft threads 5, which are preferably of uniform Diameters are further apart on the tread than on the side, like this is indicated schematically in Fig. 2, from which it can be seen that these threads gradually approach towards the sides of the tire. . Both the warp and the weft threads so lie in such a way that the size of the meshes 7 decreases towards the sides (Fig. 2 and 3). This creates a fabric that is looser on the tread than on the sides, in both directions. Also, the sides of the fabric are thinner than the center, so the edge portion of the fabric can be folded to reinforce the sides.
As a result of the use of longer warp threads on the running surface, the spirally wound layers 6 naturally assume a concave cross section which approximates the cross section according to FIG. 3. The woven strip is thus made beforehand so that it conforms not only to the shape of the finished tire but also to the core shape used to wind the strip in building the tire. This prevents the threads from being stretched or shifted, as well as from shifting or stressing the rubber covering, which is added to each fabric layer before it is wound onto the mold. The edges of the fabric are folded, as indicated at 8 (FIG. 3), around the stiffening rings 9. The folded edges, which are thinner than the tread, reinforce the sides. The outermost edge pieces of the fabric can also be provided with warp threads of varying lengths, in which case the shortest warp threads lie on the Λ ^ εΓΒΐεί fastening rings 9. This result is achieved if the take-up roll of the loom is provided with ends which expand from the parts of the smallest diameter. In this way the finished fabric will by itself essentially be the exact shape of the tire after all. Accept directions; If you want, you can still use an inner fabric covering 10. The continuous strip of fabric is calendered before being wound onto the frame and treated with rubber, which is applied in this state so that the rubber penetrates and impregnates the meshes of the fabric, as well as forming radial rivet-like parts of varying diameter in the fabric, whereby the outer Tread 2 of the tire is anchored by the inner piece of fabric. Because the fabric strip is produced from the outset in the final shape of the tire, and the rubber covering is applied in calendering in which the fabric is in its actual shape, so there is no \ 7 erschiebung even stress on the tissue pieces or the rubber covering nor separation of the two substances. Since the warp and weft threads are taut, neither the size nor the shape of the meshes change during use, so that any possibility of shearing off the rivet-like rubber filling of the meshes is avoided.
The rubber covering 2 is applied to the inner piece of fabric under heat and pressure and during vulcanization with the rubber covering of the fabric layers, which are wound up in the form described above, verburi- <the; the outer tread is anchored to the inner fabric by rivet-like pieces of rubber, the diameter of which changes from the tread to the sides. Since the meshes on the tread have a larger diameter than on the sides, a larger amount of rubber n 0 penetrates the running part of the tire during calendering per unit length than the sides. The tire thus constructed is vulcanized and used together with an inner air tube.
