Zusatz zum Patent 257715.Addition to patent 257715.
. Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 7. Dezember 1912 ab. Längste Dauer: 4. Juni 1925.. Patented in the German Empire on December 7, 1912. Longest duration: June 4, 1925.
The subject of the patent 257715 is a process for the production of hydrogen, the consists of steaming crude kerosene, commercial kerosene, tar oils or the like. at a temperature of 1200 to 1350 ° 18.1 g Calories for every 16 g of gas.
The process is carried out in such a way that the hydrocarbon vapors are heated to a temperature of 1200 to 1350 0 in a relatively narrow and long tube and by regulating the supplied vapors or by measuring the appropriate length of the tube, care is taken to ensure that they are completely decomposed into pure hydrogen and carbon, which is obtained in accordance with the wording of the main patent in the form of soot, the required amount of heat is also supplied to the entire contents of the pipe.
It has now been found that there is no need to use liquid hydrocarbons is limited, but that one with particular advantage also gaseous hydrocarbons, as z. B. nature in the supplies abundant gas sources, or such as such. B. artificially in the coal gas, Generator gas etc. industry can be represented.
Die bei gewöhnlicher Temperatur an sichThe ones at ordinary temperature per se
gasförmigen Kohlenwasserstoffe bestehen, gleich welcher Herkunft, aus Kohlenwasserstoffen von niederem Molekulargewicht, während die aus Petroleum usw. gewonnenen Kohlenwasserstoffdämpfe aus Kohlenwasserstoffen von hohem, sogar beträchtlich höherem Molekulargewicht zusammengesetzt sind.gaseous hydrocarbons exist, the same which origin, from hydrocarbons of low molecular weight, while those from Petroleum, etc. obtained hydrocarbon vapors from hydrocarbons of high, are composed of even considerably higher molecular weights.
However, it was by no means foreseeable or obvious to use simply constructed gaseous hydrocarbons of low molecular weight in the process of the main patent in place of the hydrocarbon vapors of high molecular weight and complex, chemical structure to be broken down. In general, chemical compounds are easier to decompose with increasing molecular weight 7 ; it had therefore to be assumed a priori that the petrol etc. Vapors according to patent 257715 can be broken down more quickly and easily than methane, ethane, etc. B. from catalytic influences, progresses more easily and facilitates the decomposition. The present process takes place under the same conditions as those of the main patent; Should the gas obtained be contaminated to a lesser extent as a result of contamination of the starting material with carbon dioxide or carbonic acid, purification by means suitable for absorption can take place.
The reaction can also be facilitated by adding the gases to be decomposed or gas mixture, steam or acid
stoff oder beide zugleich zuführt. Dies empfiehlt sich jedoch nur dann, wenn die Nebenbildung von Kohlenoxyd, also die Erzeugung eines kehlenoxydhaltigen Wasserstoffgases nicht unerwünscht ist.material or both at the same time. However, this is only recommended if the secondary education of carbon oxide, i.e. the production of a hydrogen gas containing throat oxide is undesirable.
