Pressurized water reactor with melting reactor fuel with a below the den
Nuclear fuel-containing reactor pressure vessel arranged drip pan, the
is covered by a separating ceiling with a mechanically weaker wall thickness than that
the concrete walls surrounding the reactor pressure vessel, characterized in that the
Catch pan (6) is embedded in a known manner in concrete and that
the concrete masses are dimensioned so that sufficient cooling of the molten
Material is guaranteed by melting concrete masses (8). The invention relates
a safety device for the safety envelope of a pressurized water reactor
melting reactor fuel with one below that containing the nuclear fuel
Reactor pressure vessel arranged collecting pan, which is covered by a separating ceiling
with mechanically weaker wall thickness than those surrounding the reactor pressure vessel
Concrete walls.
Pressurized water reactors are in the event of failure of the cooling system
Provide emergency cooling devices for the reactor fuel to ensure
that the decay heat that still occurs after the nuclear reactor is switched off from the
Reactor pressure vessel is discharged.
In the event that these emergency cooling devices also fail, is
the reactor pressure vessel surrounded by strong concrete walls to avoid that at
melting nuclear fuel in other rooms of the nuclear reactor facility
Water (cooling water, pump sump) is evaporated and this increases the internal pressure
increased in the safety containment In order to avoid that in the event of a reactor accident
Melting nuclear fuel causes further damage, it is from the German
Offenlegungsschrift 26 14 187 known, one made of bricks below the reactor core
and to arrange existing collecting basin and neutron poison rods This collecting basin has
a distributor for the melting reactor fuel and is on the periphery
surrounded by a cooling device to dissipate the heat.
Auffangwanne. A concrete drip tray with cooling tubes at the bottom of the tray
is also known from the German Auslegeschrift 2035089 Furthermore is in the
US Pat. No. 3,930,939 has a likewise cooled collecting pan below a reactor core
provided, which is covered by a mechanically weakly dimensioned separating ceiling
In the event of a reactor core fuel melting, this separating ceiling becomes
destroyed and the nuclear fuel can in the arranged below the separating ceiling
Catch pan flow. The cooling device is located below the bottom of the
Drip pan.
The object of the present invention is to protect the reactor pressure vessel
in the event of reactor fuel melting, further improving without
that large masses of concrete between the reactor pressure vessel and neighboring rooms
must be arranged This task is performed in the case of the safety device mentioned at the beginning
according to the invention achieved in that the drip pan in a manner known per se
is embedded in concrete masses and that the concrete masses are dimensioned so that
Sufficient cooling of the molten material by melting concrete masses
is guaranteed. An exemplary embodiment is shown in section in the drawing
The reactor pressure vessel 1 is separated from surrounding spaces 53 and 4 by concrete winch 5
separate Below the reactor pressure vessel 1 there is a collecting pan 6,
which is covered with a steel shell 7 and embedded in concrete 8 This drip pan
is at the same height or below the foundations 9 of the nuclear reactor plant.
A separating cover 10 is located between the collecting trough 6 and the reactor pressure vessel 1
intended. The separating ceiling 10 is mechanically dimensioned weaker than that
other concrete walls surrounding the reactor pressure vessel 1
