Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Anschlußelementes für die Verbindung von LichtleitkabelnProcess for the production of a connection element for the connection of fiber optic cables

The invention relates to a method corresponding to the preamble of the patent claim. Object of the invention it is to be indicated how the ends of fiber optic cables or their fiber optic cables in a simple and effective way can be fastened so centered within a sleeve that they can be used as connecting elements. These Object is according to the invention by the characterizing Part of the claim specified measures resolved.

By using the method, connecting elements manufacture that are easy and cheap to manufacture and are also characterized by precise centering their light guides.

In den Zeichnungen zeigt:The invention is described in more detail with reference to drawings as follows. In the drawings shows:

In Figs. 1 and 2a to 2c, a connecting element is shown, which consists of a substantially cylindrical Sleeve 11 is made. This sleeve contains a jewel as it is common in watches and it is also used for receiving a plastic-sheathed light guide cable 13. First, the sleeve 11 is heated to the softening temperature of the cable jacket made of plastic 15 is heated and then the light guide cable 13 is pushed so far into the sleeve 11 until it comes to rest on the bearing block 12. Further pressure on the cable jacket is deformed Now the softened plastic 15 and lets the light guide 16 through the Pohrung 17 of the bearing block 12 through protrude on the connection-side face of the sleeve. This process is done by means of a depression 18 of the bearing block 12, which introduces the light guide 16 into the bore 17.

At this stage of the manufacturing process, the flowing plastic 15 of the light guide cable 13 has the Bore 19 of the sleeve 11 is filled as shown in Fig. 2c. Now the sleeve 11 is cooled, see above that the plastic 15 hardens and in this case the end of the light guide cable 13 is fastened in the sleeve 11.

The protruding end of the light guide 16 becomes 1> H spielsweinr cut off close to the bearing block 12 by means of a wire cutter and melted the cut end in a flame, until a tropic forms that merges with the outer

Using a tool made of a neutral material, such as coal, is the molten drop is pressed against the bearing block and in the process in the shape of a rivet head (Fig. 3b). The end of the light guide is then finely ground after it has cooled and is flush with the bearing block polished leaving a small cone 21, which sits in the countersink and the light guide symmetrically in the bore 17 is centered.

In Fig. Ί an alternative example of the sleeve is shown. This embodiment is similar to that shown in FIGS Sleeve 11 has an annular circumferential rib Ί1 arranged on the inside, which holds back the softened plastic in the sleeve bore.
