PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The gases to be scrubbed are introduced into channel A, which is as deep as possible in relation to the rest of the apparatus. In this a plate A 1 is arranged, which is heated by the gases passing through it. At the end of the channel a pipe B leads upwards and curves laterally towards a gas box C so that the gas can get into it from the channel. The ceiling of this box, which is to be kept as long and wide as possible, but relatively low, is projected upwards by the side walls, so that a large basin, open at the top, is formed from the ceiling and the side walls. This basin is used to hold cooling water, by means of which the gas flowing underneath is cooled. The construction of the cooling device for the gas is of course entirely dependent on local conditions, temperature of the inflowing gases, etc. For example, in the case of very hot gases, in order to achieve a correspondingly larger cooling surface, pipe B must be extended upwards and then returned to box C , while the latter can be replaced by a pipe system with a larger surface in the event of a lack of water. From the basin a pipe C goes downwards into the channel A , the lower end of which opens just above the aforementioned plate A 1. · Water drips down through this pipe onto plate A 1 / so that the gases surrounding it are made pregnant with moisture.
The gas pipe B is cooled by the air surrounding it, so that in this a cooling of the gas already takes place, which is completed in the box C , which is cooled by the constant inflow and outflow of cooling water.
The gases pass then through a VerbindungsrohrZ '1 from the case C in a lower-lying collecting tank D and from here on out further through the horizontal pipe E into an iron tower F which is exposed broken fit with stones, on which from the upper reservoir G flows down a stream of water or neutral lye, in order to offer the gas as large a contact surface as possible with these liquids when crossing the tower. The lyes coming from the tower flow back through E to D and, in connection with the gases condensed in the gas box C, are discharged from the collecting box D through a pipe H into a reservoir not shown in the drawing. - the gases reach a second tower L. through a connection pipe K in the lower part from the upper Their water tower F Also, this is suitably exposed with stones etc., to the gas with the einfiiefsenden from the upper reservoir M acid or other liquid, which is closely related to ammonia, to allow the largest possible contact surface. At the top of this latter tower the gases finally get into the chimney.
The draft can, if necessary, be regulated by a fan, a jet apparatus, etc. will.
Die überschüssige Säure enthaltenden Flüssigkeiten des zweiten Thurmes L werden in den ersten Thurm F zurückgeleitet und gelangen dadurch mit den Flüssigkeiten aus letzteremThe excess acid-containing liquids of the second tower L are returned to the first tower F and thereby get with the liquids from the latter
The neutral liquor is returned through the first tower for so long until it has reached a state worthy of boiling.
The excretion of the tar takes place in the apparatuses BCDE and F ; dissolved parts of it are precipitated and removed when the boiling liquors are evaporated.
The dimensions of the parts of the apparatus and the operation are to be arranged in such a way that the temperatures and the degrees of concentration of the liquids, which determine the success of the process, reach a reasonable height.
