Der vorliegende Gefäßverschluß stellt eine Kapsel oder Haube h dar, welche den Inhalt des Gefäßes gegen irgendwelche Einwirkungen von außen durch zwei Dichtungen sichert. Die eine dieser beiden Dichtungen befindet sich am Rande der Gefäßöffnung oder in deren unmittelbarer Nähe an der Innen- oder Außenwand des Gefäßes. Zwischen beiden Dichtungen liegt also eine vollkommen abgeschlossene und daher ruhende, ringförmige Luftschicht von beliebigem Querschnitt. Das Vorhandensein einer solchen ruhenden Luftschicht bietet erfahrungsmäßig nicht nur eine vollkommene Gewähr gegen das Vordringen von Staub und Schmutz, besonders auch von organischen Keimen aller Art, sondern es wird dadurch auch der Verkehr von Gasen und Dämpfen gehemmt, so daß eine Diffusion der letzteren von außen nach dem Inneren des Gefäßes oder in umgekehrter Richtung nicht erfolgen kann. Dies läßt sich selbst dann erreichen, wenn im Innern des Gefäßes ein erhöhter Gasdruck herrscht (wie z. B. bei allen Arten von schäumenden Getränken), die innere Dichtung aber wegen technischer Schwierigkeiten nicht vollkommen gasdicht hergestellt werden kann, indem alsdann die ringförmige Luftschicht zwischen den beiden Dichtungen den erhöhten Gasdruck aufnimmt und somit nicht nur ein weiteres Entweichen von Gas, sondern auch ein etwaiges Austreten von Flüssigkeit verhindert.The present vessel closure is a capsule or hood h which secures the contents of the vessel against any external influences by means of two seals.
