Glashalterung bei Brillenfassungen Glass holder for glasses frames
The invention relates to a lens holder in eyeglass frames with self-contained, grooved frame edges, preferably made of metal, which firmly enclose the glasses around the entire circumference.
Hierbei ist es manchmal unvermeidlich, daß die sehr teurenIn known glass holders of this type, the glasses are inserted into closed frame rims made of plastic, that the edges are softened beforehand by heating. Here it is sometimes inevitable that the very expensive

Eyeglass lenses break. You can also use this method do not apply to metallic glasses frames. In these spectacle frames, the frame edges are designed to be divided and provided with a locking block having a screw connection. This allows the frame edges to be opened and close again after inserting the glasses so that they are securely held. After all, it is also known and It is true that especially in the case of so-called bearer-bar spectacles, the spectacle lenses can be glued to the edge of the frame, but it was possible to do this do not achieve a solid connection that can withstand the usual stresses and strains.
It is the object of the invention to provide a lens holder for eyeglass frames to propose with self-contained, grooved frame edges, in which the glasses without the use of mechanical Edge closure elements are held securely and tension-free in the socket.
The object is achieved according to the invention in that the rear wall of the groove at the frame edges over an angular range, which is smaller than 360 °, preferably about 180 °, at least partially removed and by one after insertion the potting compound attached to the glass is replaced.
Durch die kombinierte Halterung des Glases in derThis has the advantage that the glass over a range of e.g. about 180, preferably at the bottom and the left and right adjoining, lateral edge sections is mechanically held, while the potting compound the upper Holds the edge area elastically, so that the lenses sit tension-free in the frame. The process of inserting the Glasses in the frame can be carried out easily and without complications. Thanks to the combined mounting of the glass in the

Version due to the mechanically positive anchoring in the groove on the one hand and the securing by the particular elastic potting compound on the other hand, the glasses are secured against impact over the entire circumference and also fall off other, external loads do not come out of the frame edges.
In the case of the glass holder according to the invention, it is particularly advantageous that for glasses frames with metal edges, the locking blocks, which represent expensive precision parts and in additional Work steps must be attached to the open edge ends, are not necessary. With these locking blocks, the Small screws used to screw the edges can also be secured against loosening or falling out, what represents another time consuming operation. These closure elements are also disadvantageous when designing Glasses frames because the designer inevitably takes into account a location for the locking blocks when designing the shape must and is thus hindered in its free creative development.

Kunststoff, Anwendung finden.is to be used favorably. In principle, the inventive Glass holder can also be used for glasses frames made of other materials, e.g. plastic.
In the frame edge 1 shown in Fig. 1, the usual nose bridge 2 is on the left side and on the right side an eyelet 3 is attached to attach the bracket reaching to the ear. As can be seen from FIG. 2, the self-contained frame edge 1 has an all around on its inside running groove 4 into which a glass 5 is inserted. For this purpose, the glass is faceted on its periphery, so that the edge of the glass is given a shape which is approximately complementary to its groove 4, in particular on the underside of the frame edge 1. in the upper area of the frame edge, which, as shown in Fig. 1 emerges, extends over an angular space of about 180 ° and also includes lateral sections of the frame edge is the rear wall labeled 6 below in FIG. 2 does not exist. The glass 5 can thus be pushed into the groove 4 from above and then because of the non-existent rear wall 6 of the groove in the upper area of the frame edge completely inserted into it will. Then, in that section of the frame edge that does not have a rear wall, a preferably fast Hardening, liquid potting compound 7 is introduced, which creates an adhesive connection between the glass 5 and the rim 1 of the frame. Suitable casting compounds are, in particular, self-polymerizing plastics, e.g. ethoxylin resin, or a cold-polymerizing one Cyanoacrylic acid monomer based adhesive. Such substances are customary in the trade.
After the casting compound 7, which preferably remains slightly elastic, has hardened, the glass 5 in the frame edge 1 is off Fig. 1 and 2 clearly anchored shockproof way,

• with the glass in the upper area of the removed rear wall 6 is wedged with the frame edge 1 by the potting compound. According to the invention, this wedging can be further improved by that - see Fig. 2 above - the rear wall of the groove is only left out or removed as far as is necessary for the introduction of the glass 5 is required, and still leaves a groove 8 in the bottom of the groove 4 or attaches it specifically, in which the potting compound 7 is mechanically anchored. This gives an anchoring of the frame edge 1, glass 5 and potting compound 7, which also applies to a A decrease in the adhesion of the potting compound to the lens 5 and frame edge 1 prevents the lens from falling out of the eyeglass frame.
In order to meet fashionable needs, the potting compound 7 can be colored. It is beneficial to use a casting compound that, e.g. by heating or a solvent, is plasticizable, so that it can be removed again for the purpose of inserting a new lens from the spectacle frame.
In the embodiment described, the rear wall 6 of the groove 4 has been removed and the remaining space has been removed from the potting compound 7 completed. In principle, instead of the rear wall 6, the front wall of the groove could of course also be passed through the potting compound 7 replace. For aesthetic reasons, however, the potting compound is normally used on the back of the eyeglass frame attach.
