Abstract
Description
Process for the production of decorative flat structures The use of polyurethane raw materials for coatings has been known for many years. It polyisocyanates of aromatic and aliphatic nature are used. The reactants of the polyisocyanates are mostly polyether or polyester derivatives containing hydroxyl groups. Solvents are predominantly added for processing as a coating material chosen. Coating material of this type is used, for example, for coating Parquet floors or for painting concrete.
Also known are the so-called one-component polyurethane coating agents, which crosslink under the influence of air humidity and an insoluble infusible Coating film result. These prepolymers containing NCO groups are also used used for the surface treatment of concrete. Solvent-free are also known Polyurethane coatings.
(Deutsche Farbenzeitschrift, Heft 11, November 1962, 471 bis 476).(German color magazine, issue 11, November 1962, 471 to 476).
All of the coating materials mentioned here have in common that they can be colored with dyes or pigments.
(American Paint Journal 52 (1967) Nr. 30, Seite 72 bis 80).A further decorative design is used for floor coatings practiced. This process consists in putting color chips in the still liquid Coating to be sprinkled. After the coating has dried, it is sanded and another coating varnish applied. A disadvantage of this method is foreign bodies in the polyurethane Coating are introduced and that multiple operations are required, namely grinding and application a top layer. (American Paint Journal 52 (1967) No. 30, pages 72 to 80).
It was now an object of this invention to provide a way of decorative Design of polyurethane coatings to provide the above avoids the disadvantages described. This object is achieved with the inventive Procedure solved.

The polyhydroxyl compounds used for this purpose generally have a molecular weight of 62 to 10,000, preferably 400 to 4,000. It deals in particular the polyhydroxy polyesters known per se in polyurethane chemistry or polyhydroxy polyether. The polyester containing hydroxyl groups in question are, for example, reaction products of polyvalent, preferably divalent and optionally additionally trihydric alcohols with polybasic, preferably dihydric, carboxylic acid. The polyethers containing hydroxyl groups, e.g. Addition of epoxides such as ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, butylene oxide, tetrahydrofuran to suitable starter molecules such as water, ethylene glycol, trimethylolpropane in can be obtained in a known manner. Except for these higher molecular weight polyols can also simple low molecular weight polyols such as in the process according to the invention e.g. ethylene glycol, hexamethylene glycol, trimethylolpropane, glycerin and the like, preferably in a mixture with the higher molecular weight polyols mentioned can be used. Preferably, in the process according to the invention for production of the first layer essential to the invention, polyols or polyol mixtures of one viscosity used at 200C from 500 to 10000 cP. If the polyols used or polyol mixtures have a higher viscosity, is the concomitant use of small amounts (approx. 0 to 20 percent by weight) of the usual paint solvents such as e.g. ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone and the like are possible.
The polyisocyanate component of the essential components of the invention for the preparation of the first Layer used polyurethane coating usually consists of the series the easily accessible polyisocyanates. These include in particular 2,4- and 2,6-diisocyanatotoluene, Folyphenyl-polymettylen-polyisocyanates as they are carried out in a manner known per se Aniline-formaldehyde condensation and subsequent phosgenation are produced. Coatings that are particularly resistant to yellowing are obtained using polyisocyanates with aliphatically or cycloaliphatically bound isocyanate groups such as tris- (6-isocyanatohexyl) -biuret, Hexamethylene diisocyanate or 1-isocyanato-3, 3, 5-trimethyl-5-isocyanatomethyl-cyclohexane (Isophorone diisocyanate).
Those which are essential to the invention in the process according to the invention for producing the first The isocyanate component to be used with preference consists of the known above named polyisocyanate mixtures of the diphenylmethane series.
In addition to the named binder components, the the coating compound used for the first layer, the additives known per se such as desiccants, catalysts, plasticizers, pigments, soluble dyes, Contain fillers and / or surface-active additives.
In the case of the one to be dripped into the first layer in the method according to the invention The solution is 10 to 70 - preferably 30 to 60 - percent by weight Solution having a viscosity at 200 ° C. of 20 to 2,000, preferably 50 to 500 cP film-forming prepolymers with terminal ends under the influence of atmospheric moisture Isocyanate groups in paint solvents known per se, those exemplified above Art. In addition to such NCO prepolymers, the solutions contain pigments and / or Solvent-soluble dyes and optionally other auxiliaries and Additives such as catalysts that accelerate the air-drying reaction, Plasticizers and the like.
The NCO prepolymers are preferably those based on lightfast Polyisocyanates with aliphatically and / or cycloaliphatically bound isocyanate groups of the type mentioned above as an example.
The NCO prepolymers are produced in a manner known per se by reacting excess amounts of such polyisocyanates with polyhydroxyl compounds of the type mentioned above by way of example and, if necessary, subsequent removal Excess amounts of unreacted polyisocyanate, for example by distillation.
Zur Herstellung der NC0-Präpolymere kommen vorzugsweise Polyhydroxylverbindungen der oben beispielhaft genannten Art.The excess polyisocyanate can be removed in all cases omitted, in which the reaction products from excess polyisocyanate and polyhydroxyl compounds already have film-forming properties as such. “NC0 prepolymers” in the context of the present invention therefore also include mixtures of NC0 prepolymers with free polyisocyanates. Essential criterion is only that the mixtures film-forming under the influence of atmospheric moisture are. Polyhydroxyl compounds are preferably used to produce the NC0 prepolymers of the type mentioned above as an example.
In order to carry out the method according to the invention, said solvent-free coating material applied to any solid surface. The layer thicknesses are variable and change depending on the consistency of the coating compound and the desired purpose. Particularly preferred for the invention The intended use is a layer thickness between 0.5 and 2 mm. The application of the coating compound is done with squeegees or similar tools. The coating can then be applied be vented with the help of spiked rollers or other devices. In the still liquid The base layer is then dripped in the moisture-curing lacquer from any height.
Due to the different color tones, the differently colored or pigmented layers decorative color effects, which visually loosen up the polyurethane coating. To drop in For isocyanate prepolymers, simple devices are used, such as vessels with several smaller openings. The isocyanate prepolymers cure independently of the solvent-free polyurethane coating due to the influence of air humidity. The curing time of the polyurethane coating is determined by the introduction of the decoration method not bothered. Reworking or further operations are not required. The decoration method is extremely versatile because it is different Coloring a practically infinite possible variety of decorative design arises. Another possibility of variation is through the choice of the amount to be dripped in Given prepolymer solution. In general, this is calculated so that 25 to 95% the area of the first layer with the second layer after the end of "floating out" the drops are covered. In terms of the simplicity of execution, the variety This method is in the design options and in the number of operations clearly superior to the other known working methods.
