Impulsgenerator für bioelektrische Einrichtungen zur Applikation von elektrischen Impulsen auf lebende OrganismenPulse generator for bioelectrical devices for the application of electrical impulses living organisms
The invention relates to a pulse generator for bioelectrical Equipment for the application of electrical impulses from living organisms, e.g. for electric air conditioning systems for generation of displacement currents in the body or for impulse therapy devices for generating a polarization effect in the skin, the impulses being formed by two voltage changes directed opposite to the level of the resting state one of which is shorter in time than the other (e.g. sawtooth pulse shape). Below the level of rest both a zero potential and a positive or negative bias voltage are to be understood.
Diese Neigung ist. aber weniger gewollt, vielmehr ergibt sie sich ausApart from the predominantly usual rectangular pulse shape in bioelectrical devices, ultimately all of them can be addressed as therapeutic devices (US-PS 3,294,092)) has the sawtooth shape of electrical pulses two different types of voltage changes in terms of their duration. The falling pulse voltage or the falling one The branch of the pulse shape is a little more inclined compared to the almost vertically ascending branch. This tendency is. but less intentionally, rather it arises from

When using pulsed current therapy devices, which, in contrast to the electric air conditioning system, have two body electrodes work and enable the polarization effect of the skin to be measured between applications, it has been found that that the desired effect of the electrical charging of body cells on the measuring path, i.e. between the two applied electrodes, is not optimal. The reason for this was recognized that any abrupt change in voltage, the caused by an impulse, also causes a charge change in the electrolyte system of the skin. Since, however, in the pulse shape applied so far, two essentially relatively short-term, but oppositely directed If voltage changes follow one another, there are also briefly consecutive changes in charge with the opposite sign in the body cells. The effect of the the rising voltage change of a pulse is thus caused by the effect of the relatively rapidly falling voltage change partially canceled. As a result, no effective polarization is possible, which acts as a reduction in skin resistance is measurable. In the case of electric air-conditioning systems, it is analogous that when using a pulse field with the previously usual impulse form oppositely directed displacement currents are generated in the organism, which are different in their effect cancel against each other.
Based on these findings, according to the invention, a pulse generator for bioelectrical therapy devices in proposed in the broadest sense, which is characterized by a pulse shape with at most one abrupt voltage change, wherein the oppositely directed voltage change is delayed to the extent that the formation of the opposite polarized displacement current is prevented.
609836/0479609836/0479
This oppositely directed voltage change should last for a time that is at least ten times as long like the duration of the abrupt change in voltage.
By deliberately delaying one of the two voltage changes associated with an electrical pulse according to FIG Invention, the delayed change in voltage is quasi neutralized, so that none of the effects of the harsh in the organism Changes in voltage can occur in opposite directions. Because the displacement current is always is only pushed in one direction, there is a kind of thrust effect in the organism.
Vorspannung .Of course, it is within the scope of the invention, the increasing To delay the pulse voltage and instead to form the voltage drop abruptly, as well as the pulse voltage can be kept constant for a while between the voltage changes. The same goes for impulses with both positive and negative polarity or bias.
Diese Erkenntnis gilt auch für die Sägezahn-Impülsform,solange nicht im Impulsgenerator schaltungsmäßigThe manner in which one of the two voltage changes of a pulse is delayed, for example by means of an RC circuit, is known to the person skilled in the art and does not need to be explained in more detail. In the drawing, the invention is explained in more detail with the aid of a comparison of possible pulse shapes. Fig. 1 shows a conventional square-wave pulse with two successive abrupt voltage changes which are directed in opposite directions. When applied to a living organism, the ascending branch a has the effect that a charge pulse b according to FIG. 2 of a certain polarity is produced in the body cells. What has not been observed, the fact that the equally abrupt voltage change of the downward portion c 1 of the square pulse of Fig. Also in the organism a charge pulse d of FIG. 2 generates the jedoc ^ Cvm charge pulse b counteracts and its effect cancels. This knowledge also applies to the sawtooth pulse form, as long as it is not in the pulse generator in terms of circuitry

Fig. Shows a possible pulse shape according to the invention with only a sharp change in voltage / in the example caused by the steep ascending branch e. The subsequent oppositely directed voltage change is clearly delayed compared to a sawtooth shape and comprises a period of time T, which is at least ten times as long as the duration of the ascending branch e of the pulse. With such a pulse shape, the body cells <3s the treated organism react with only a single charge pulse f according to FIG. 4, that in the context of a pulse train further changes in charge with the same polarity follow.
While in Fig. 1 and 3 the pulses are shown as starting from a potential O of the rest state, Fig. 5 to 7 waveforms based on positive or negative bias. The pulse shapes according to FIGS. 5 to 7 show over that of Fig. 3 also the modification that the maximum pulse voltage between the both voltage changes is kept constant for a certain period of time. These pulse shapes represent, as it were, according to the invention Modifications of the square-wave pulses according to FIG. 1 represent.
In the case of a negative bias according to FIG. 6, the pulse voltage also preferably has a negative polarity.
In Fig. 7 beginnt der Impuls mit der verzögerten Spannungsänderung, wogegen die schroffe Spannungsänderung diejenige ist, mit der die maximale Impulsspannung auf das hier positive Niveau des Ruhezustandes zurückgeführt wird.FIG. 7 shows a modification of FIG. 5 and makes it clear that it does not matter which of the two voltage changes is the first over time. In FIG. 7, the pulse begins with the delayed voltage change, whereas the abrupt voltage change is the one with which the maximum pulse voltage is returned to the here positive level of the idle state.
