aus Fettsäureestern der Cellulose.from fatty acid esters of cellulose.
Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 12. Juni 1910 ab.Patented in the German Empire on June 12, 1910.
Es wurde gefunden, daß DiacetonalkoholThe invention relates to a process for the preparation of solutions of the fatty acid esters cellulose, especially acetyl cellulose. Such solutions are widely used Dimensions used as a replacement for collodion, for the manufacture of varnishes, for waterproof and other coatings, and in general for various industrial purposes. It was found that diacetone alcohol
Is the fatty acid ester of cellulose. It boils at about 163 ° C, slowly dissolving acetyl cellulose ordinary temperature and more rapid in warmth; the resulting solutions Can be easily handled and dried to make clear sheets or films that are essential are better than those that are obtained by using nitromethane as a solvent, as tests have shown.
In addition, diacetone alcohol is relatively cheap, completely neutral, and non-toxic. If diacetone alcohol is used alone, the solutions will dry somewhat slowly. He is therefore best used in conjunction with suitable diluents. as Diluents are used for substances that are in themselves a solvent for acetyl cellulose are or those that do not have a solving effect on their own. The amount of diluent depends on its nature and on the purpose for which the solution is should be used and can easily be determined by experiment. For example give 3 parts diacetone alcohol mixed with ι parts benzene a good solvent. at the evaporation leaves a transparent film. Acetone is also used as a diluent well suited.
Diacetone alcohol is also a solvent for nitrocellulose, so mixed solutions of nitrocellulose and cellulose acetate can be made with it.
. The solutions of acetyl cellulose and of acetyl cellulose with nitrocellulose thus obtained can also be used for the production of fiber material and threads by letting the solutions flow out in a known manner through suitable openings in precipitating liquids. It can also be used to produce strips, sheets, films or other objects. Threads and films from a solution containing acetyl cellulose and nitrocellulose at the same time have more strength than those made from acetyl cellulose alone; they also have a higher insulation capacity than nitrocellulose and are also more resistant to alkalis.
The solutions of fatty acid esters of cellulose in solvents containing diacetone alcohol contain, can be used with advantage as lacquers or varnishes, especially if nitrocellulose, resins, oil, etc. are added to them. The diacetone alcohol needs by the way not to be purified to a particularly high degree, but can also be in less pure form are used.
Die Lösungen stellt man z. B. in der Weise her, daß man 1 Teil Acetylcellulose mitThe solutions are provided e.g. B. in such a way that one part of acetyl cellulose with
ig Teilen Diacetonalkohol in einem Behälter so lange durchmischt, bis die Lösung vollendet ist.ig parts of diacetone alcohol are mixed in a container until the solution is complete is.
