The invention relates to a process for the preparation of schoolable hydrotropic aromatic sulfonates according to claim above.
The hydrotropic properties of the salts of some sulfonated ones aromatic compounds, in particular the sodium or potassium salts of toluene, xylene and cumene sulfonic acid are known (see. Römpps-Chemie-Lexikon, 7th edition 1973, p. 1540). You will be in shape so far 30% to 40% aqueous solutions or in the form of sprayed powders with over 90% hydrotropic content Substance manufactured. With regard to their chemical action, they have proven themselves very well, but they have some significant disadvantages with regard to their use or handling. So in particular own the aqueous solutions have the disadvantage of - based on the product sold - high ballast content of water, which significantly increases transport costs. In addition, 30-40% hydrotropic solutions tend to crystallize out when stored below 15 ° C. A much stronger concentration shows up than not can be used because a paste-like flowing when the concentration of alkali metal sulfonates exceeds 50% The viscosity of the mass is so high that it can no longer be regarded as sufficiently pumpable.
To avoid this disadvantage, the hydrotropic aromatic sulfonates are spray-dried in the form Powder produced, through which - at least largely - the ballast transport weight are reduced can, but with their bulk weight below 0.3 kg / 1 - compared to the aqueous solutions - Require much larger transport volume that the one achieved by reducing the amount of ballast Advantage is already more than offset. Also the generally used path to enlarge the Powder particles so-called "electrolytes", especially sodium sulfate, Entering the spray tower as crystallization nuclei leads to only limited success than this the bulk density can hardly be increased above 0.3 kg / 1, but the electrolyte again to be regarded as polluting ballast. In addition, there are further disadvantages of the spray-dried Powder the high cost of spraying and the inconvenience of processing, especially in its large size Dust development and the fact that they float on water as a result of the low bulk weight and can therefore only be worked into water with great difficulty.
The present invention aims to provide Easy to transport and easy to process hydr & L-open salts of aromatic sulfonic acids a In the method according to the invention v. ground the aromatic sulfonates in the heat to a 65% strength 90%, preferably 70-85%, aqueous solution concentrated.
It has surprisingly been found that the sulfonate solutions in the range of the specified concentrations, despite the still considerable water content of up to 30% and above, not as expected - result in a doughy, plasticizable and sticky mass, but rather solidify into an amorphous-crystalline mass that is accessible for mechanical comminution. A cake of the fragments during storage - for example below their own weight or the weight of the stack layered pile of sacks - does not occur. This does not only apply to such masses - such as sodium xylene sulfonate or potassium toluenesulfonate - too, which give solid fragments with a dry surface, but rather even for those masses whose fragments - such as sodium toluene sulfonate - are damp to the touch Show surface. The fragments are solid in the core and show no signs of sticking.
The resulting pourable masses have a bulk density of 0.8 to 1.6 kg / l, so they need an extraordinarily small transport space compared to spray-dried fulvers and compared to aqueous ones Solutions have a significantly lower ballast weight and sink immediately under when incorporated into water the water surface, so that the disadvantages that have hitherto occurred during further processing are also eliminated are. It is not necessary to add electrolytes as ballast substances.
In carrying out the invention, the aqueous solution obtained in the production of the aromatic sulfonates is brought to the required concentration by boiling, the resulting slurry is cooled on a cooling belt or on a cooling roller, and the solidified mass is flaked or flaked with the aid of a spiked roller or some other comminuting device Broken. However, the cooling and crushing process can also be combined, for example in such a way that, after the concentration of the solution, the slurry is allowed to run off through a gutter and the jet is atomized with the aid of a cold air pressure jet while cooling and solidifying at the same time. To save costs, in particular heating costs, it is expedient to work in the lower concentration range, preferably between 70 and 85%.
The invention is explained below.
Ihr Schüttgewicht beträgt 1,34 kg/1.A 40% strength aqueous solution of sodium xylene sulfonate emerging from the sulfonation plant is used concentrated by evaporation in the kettle to an 80% solution. Its a temperature of about 100 ° C containing mass is continuously applied to a water-cooled in a layer thickness of 0.3-0.4 cm Cooling tape is applied, where it solidifies to an amorphous-crystal mass within a few seconds. she is broken at the end of the belt with a spiked roller into flaky pieces that form a solid have a dry surface. Their bulk weight is 1.34 kg / l.
Es resultieren feste Schuppen mit feuchtglänzender Oberfläche und einem Schüttgewicht von 1,3 kg/LA sodium toluenesulfonate mass concentrated to 70% in the manner described in Example 1 is used solidified on the cooling belt and broken with the help of a spiked roller. Solid result Dandruff with a moist, shiny surface and a bulk density of 1.3 kg / L
