Das neue Hufeisen zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dafs der Stollen α α einen Einschlitz hat. In diesen Einschlitz b pafst, soweit derselbe reicht, ein unten nach vorn abgerundetes, nach hinten eckiges, oben über den Stollen hinaus von hinten und vorn zugespitztes Stahleisen c. Das zugespitzte Stück ragt über den Stollen je nach Bedürfnifs 1 bis 2 cm und mehr hervor. Das Stahleisen sowie die' beiden Wandungen des Stollens sind durchbohrt und durch einen kräftigen Niet d fest an einander vernietet. Soll das Hufeisen auf rauhen Wegen gebraucht werden, so wird das zugespitzte Stahleisen mit einem Hammer von hinten nach vorn umgeschlagen, Fig. 3. Soll dagegen das Hufeisen auf Glatteiswegen benutzt werden, so wird das zugespitzte Stahleisen mittelst eines Hammers von vorn nach hinten hoch- und der Einschlitz an dem vorderen Ende etwas zusammengeschlagen, Fig. 2, und liegt es in der Construction, nämlich in der festen Vernietung, dafs im ersten Falle das zugespitzte Stück liegen bleibt, im zweiten Falle aber aufgerichtet genügend fest steht, um das Pferd auf Eiswegen vor Ausgleiten zu schützen.The new horseshoe is characterized by the fact that the stud α α has a slot.
