Abstract

Powdered metal soaps, acting as hydrophobicising additives to hydraulically-setting mortars, are fixed therein using metal salts of short-chain, water-sol. acids. The salt, which may be that of an alkaline earth metal, Al or a rare earth metal with a 1-3C fatty acid, prevents the soap from migrating to the surface without reducing its surface adhesion and is appreciably cheaper than resin dispns. (ca. 90% in the case of Ca formate).
