Description

KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL

PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.

It has been found that with the vegetable fillings mentioned in the main patent It is very difficult to achieve satisfactory results. On the one hand recommends it approaches the spherical shape instead of the regular one obtained by that method Pores form those of irregular shape in order to better grip the stones to achieve, on the other hand, it is necessary to choose such a filling compound, its individual Particles when drying the plastic mass and the associated shrinkage of the same not pinched by the porcelain mass, but loosened in it, so that the air necessary for burning to each particle because otherwise only charring, not burning, takes place. Of the The substance to be used for the filling compound is therefore all the better for the present purpose suitable, the more its volume increases and the less it is soaked with water it can be ground into particles of irregular shape.

We have now found such a substance in the cork, its waste from manufacture of plugs and so on find good use here.

We prefer to grind the cork on disk mills made of hard cast iron; it is its crushing but can also be done on mills of all kinds. The grinding goes one Strong drying in a kiln beforehand, which facilitates the grinding process. That so The cork meal obtained is sorted by sieves according to different numbers. Depending on The purpose of the grinding media to be produced is for the purpose of producing the corresponding Porosity selected the corresponding number of the cork pellets to be mixed with the porcelain mass.

The shape of the cork particles has no resemblance to grains or seeds, still with the wood particles produced according to the instructions in the description of the main patent, which, also produced by a grinding process, have a more spherical appearance. The cork never grinds itself into round grains, but it only lets itself into very irregular ones Tear up parts whose edges are not rounded off by the grinding process, because the cork is too elastic.

In der Nässe quillen die Korkpartikel sehr stark auf; sind sie also der Porcellanmasse beigemischt und trocknen später mit derselben, so liegen sie in trockenem Zustande ganz lose in den durch sie erzeugten Höhlungen, weil das Mafs ihrer Schwindung das des Thones beimThe cork particles swell very strongly when wet; are they mixed with the porcelain mass and if they dry later with it, they lie quite loosely in the dry state the cavities produced by them, because the degree of their shrinkage is that of the clay

Claims (1)

Drying many times over. Air can therefore circulate when it burns occur in the porcelain body and complete burning of the filling compound. The thereby generated pores of irregular shape give the grinding media the desired sharp grip. The use of crushed cork as a filler in the manufacture of grinding media Made of porous porcelain for the purpose of better combustion of the filling compound and production irregularly shaped pores with good grip in the grinding media.
