Der Dämpfer besteht aus einem mit Filz ausgekleideten Trichter a, auf dessen hinteres Ende ein zweiter kleinerer Trichter b derart angebracht ist, daß ein Zwischenraum zwischen beiden Trichtern besteht. Die Filzbekleidung bildet zweckmäßig einen Ring, in den der Rand des Trichters α genau hineinpaßt. An dem Ring c ist eine Feder d befestigt,. welche den Trichter a gegen den Ring c preßt. An dem Trichter a ist ein Hebel f angebracht, an dem eine Schnur f¹ befestigt ist. Durch Anziehen der Schnur f.¹ mittels des Ringes m kann der Trichter α von dem Ringe c nach Belieben abbewegt werden. Am engen Ende des Trichters α ist eine kleine öffnung e vorgesehen. Im Innern dieses Trichters ist eine dicht abschließende, runde Filzscheibe g angebracht, die am Rand eine Öffnung g¹ besitzt. Eine zweite ebensolche Filzscheibe h besitzt ebenfalls eine öffnung h¹, die der Öffnung g¹ diametral gegenüberliegt.
