The invention relates to an artificial vessel which is used in surgery to remove various parts of the vascular system to be able to restore or replace in humans and animals. In vascular surgery, vascular changes are such as Corrected aneurysms or occlusions by resecting the pathologically altered section. This is going through replaced an artificial vessel. The different. large artificial vessels are used for all parts of the vasculature related. They consist of straight or different. ■. branched Tubes made from a pliable, porous material. This material becomes one from fibers Woven or knitted mesh pattern.
Erwünscht ist außerdem, daß die DurchlässigkeitThe artificial vessel should be non-toxic, non-allergic and not be destructible for a long time. It should be able to deform and bend without collapsing or to kink. It is also desirable that the permeability

The vessel heals through fibrosis, that is, the The organism's reaction to the implantation of a foreign body is to completely encapsulate it with fibrin or scar tissue. With the artificial vessel A layer of fibrin forms on the outside as well as on the inside. The healing process begins a few hours after implantation with the deposition of a thin layer of fibrin on the inside of the implant that coincides with the flowing Blood has contact. Then the cicatricial transformation of the fibrin layer begins, which lasts for days to weeks. From the outside Fibroblasts penetrate inward through the mesh of the vascular tissue and form an endothelium there. That Life of the inner layer is dependent on its blood supply and the integrity of the ingrown interstitial tissue. The possibility of immigration of the Fibringe - weave through the wall of the artificial vessel is an important factor that determines the biological fate of the artificial vessel determined.
Ih beiden Fällen beeinflußt das Antikoagulans die Gerinnung In order to reduce the likelihood of clot formation inside the artificial vessel, it has already been proposed to heparinize the artificial vessel. However, the anticoagulant inhibits blood clotting not only within the vessel, but also in the edge of the vessel, so that oozing bleeding can occur. This disadvantage can be reduced by reducing the porosity. But this in turn has the disadvantage that the healing process described above is disturbed. On the other hand, a smaller amount of heparin could be used, but this also increases the likelihood of blood clotting in the vessel. In both cases the anticoagulant affects the coagulation

im wesentlichen im gleichen Maße in dem gesamten Gefäß.substantially the same throughout the vessel.
The object of the present invention is to create an artificial blood vessel which contains an anticoagulant, however, is free from the disadvantages mentioned above.
The object of the invention is achieved in that the artificial vessel consists of a porous, multilayer, tubular Tissue is made up of which one layer contains an anticoagulant and a second layer that does not contain an anticoagulant contains, surrounding the first layer of tissue.
Polytetrafluorethylen, oder aus Gemischen dieser Pasern miteinander oder mitThe invention is explained in more detail below with reference to an exemplary embodiment shown in the accompanying drawing explained. The drawing shows a perspective illustration of an artificial vessel in which a part has been cut away is. The porous, multilayer, tubular fabric, designated as a whole by 1, is divided into a first tubular fabric layer 2 and a second tubular fabric layer 3 »which is the first layer surrounds. Part of the second layer 3 is cut away in order to show the first layer 2 in the illustration. That Multi-layer artificial vessel is made by sliding both parts into each other and stapling them together. Either or both layers can be puckered and both are conventionally made. e.g. woven or knitted. The assembled artificial vessel can be a Shape as shown in U.S. Patent No. 31054-92 shown. It can made of synthetic resin fibers used in synthetic fabrics, such as polyester such as polyr Ethyleneterephalic acid ester, from polyamide, such as the one below : em trade name nylon 66 available polyamide, made of acrylic or polyacrylic, such as the commercial product Orion, made of polyhalogenated Hydrocarbons, such as polytetrafluoroethylene, or mixtures of these fibers with one another or with

Fibers of animal origin, as in U.S. Patent No. 3316557 indicated what is referred to here. Both layers of the composite vessel are therefore in use in Shape, porosity, size and other structural properties that are required for an artificial vessel.
According to the present invention, one tissue layer of the vessel contains an anticoagulant and a second Layer that does not contain an anticoagulant surrounds the first. The preferred anticoagulant is heparin, with which the first layer is impregnated. The fibers can be impregnated before the fabric layer is produced or the fabric layer is impregnated before the vessel is assembled.
In an exemplary embodiment, a tubular, crimped dacron fabric is immersed in a 5% iS e aqueous solution of heparin sodium for a few minutes. The vessel impregnated in this way is dried and contains approximately 0.5% of its weight in heparin. The impregnated vessel is then pushed into a second one, the inner diameter of which is slightly larger than the outer diameter of the impregnated layer. The second layer should be woven as loosely as possible than the first.
Der 3emmeffekt der äußeren Schicht auf das Antikoagulans kannAn artificial vessel, which is manufactured in the specified manner, is then used in surgery - in the usual way Applied wisely. The presence of heparin in the inner layer reduces the risk of clotting inside the vessel. However, the outer layer, which does not contain an anticoagulant, allows clotting outside the inner layer and in this way reduces the chance of oozing, which the heparin would normally effect in the inner layer. The clamping effect of the outer layer on the anticoagulant can

On the one hand, the second layer can be made thicker than the first layer in order to obtain greater capacity to absorb the anticoagulant. On the other hand, the second layer can be one Contain substance that cancels the effect of the anticoagulant. The inhibitor can be the web material itself or additionally contain a material such as an anticoagulant antagonist or inhibitor.
The anticoagulant heparin is an organic acid that reacts with a base. In this case, the fabric can contain a basic material, for example silk or other protein fibers, which chemically combine with the heparin. In this way it prevents blood clotting by the heparin in the second layer of tissue. An inhibitor which reacts with the anticoagulant in such a way that the reaction product has no effect on coagulation can also be built into the second tissue layer. For example, the second tissue can be coated or impregnated with a basic salt, such as quaternary ammonium antiseptic, for example benzethonium chloride, which reacts chemically with the heparin and forms an almost insoluble material that has only a slight anticoagulant effect. Finally, the second tissue can also be coated or impregnated with a heparin antagonist such as protamine or protamine zinc, or with an antifibrinolytic agent such as epsilon-aminocaproic acid. Other heparin inhibitor y that can be applied are so lohe with Acridinblau, polybrene and toluidine.

In general, a smaller amount of the anticoagulant is required than would otherwise have to be present in the bloodstream as a sufficient dose to prevent blood clotting. Preferably only 1/10 of this dose, which is 50 mg IV for heparin, is used. Therefore, the amount of heparin in an artificial vessel will generally be at most about 50 mg, but preferably only about 5 mg.If the second tissue layer contains a heparin inhibitor, the amount present should generally be sufficient to at least a substantial amount of that present in the first layer Inhibit anticoagulant. For example, if the anticoagulation is inhibited by chemical reaction, the amount of the inhibitor should be sufficient to react with a substantial amount, preferably the greater part, of the anticoagulant present in the artificial vessel. The maximum dose of the inhibitor is five times, preferably twice the amount that is theoretically needed to inhibit all of the heparin. While the artificial vessel shown here has only two layers, four additional layers of tissue can be added according to the invention. However, even then, at least one outer layer, preferably the outermost layer, is free of heparin.
