Abstract

This ski boot has a front foot-heel shell (10) which is provided with ankle plates (12,14). In one r egion of the Achilles tendon, the heel shell (10) is connected by a hook and eye fastener (18,28,30,32) to an anklet (20) which pivots backwards. The boot shell (10) has a plate (21) riveted to it, which forms a pocket with the rear wall, while at the same time forming a hinge with a second plate (34) fitted to the anklet (20). This upper plate has a hook (32) which engages behind a rod (28) in the lower plate (21). The anklet (20) can be removed from the shell (10) by swinging the anklet backwards until the hook (32) springs from the rod (28). It is re-engaged by replacing the hook on the rod and swinging the anklet forward. The hinge effect of the hook and rod simplifies the insertion of the foot into the boot.
