Description
The invention relates to a method for homogenizing polymer mixtures.
When processing plastics, there are always considerable difficulties when one occurs Processing plastic mixture consists of components that differ greatly in their flow behavior in the Distinguish melt. The components can consist of the same material or belong to different types of plastic. Some of the components can also contain other substances or Represent liquids, such as B. plasticizers, flame retardants, dyes, etc. Attempts have been made to date these difficulties either by adhering to a special working method or by using them to eliminate special devices. To a certain extent, it has been proven to be difficult to flow Pre-plasticize the component and then add the easy-flowing components. This procedure is However, it is expensive and can not always be realized, especially not when the easy-flowing The material that is difficult to flow outweighs considerably in the amount and the viscosities in the required temperatures are too far apart. So far, certain mixtures cannot be used by observing certain working conditions, e.g. B. Pre-plasticizing one component and rapid or slow addition of the other components with simultaneous constant or changing temperature, nor by special devices, e.g. B. Kneader with various inserts, in the desirable Homogenize dimensions. In this context, homogeneous is understood to mean that the individual components have the Finished product are evenly distributed and when the concentration is changed in a meaningful way linear dependence of the mechanical properties on the concentration occurs.
It has now been found that it is also possible to homogenize polymer mixtures which were previously impossible or difficult to homogenize without difficulty if, according to the invention, polymers are added as homogenizing auxiliaries which, at room temperature or at the latest at the processing temperature of the polymer mixture, correspond to a tough, sticky to honey-like mass, melt viscosities of 50 up to 5000 poise. The invention accordingly relates to a method for homogenizing polymer mixtures. This "process is characterized in that at normal temperatures or at the latest at the processing temperature of the polymer mixtures sticky viscous bi <honey-like polymers having melt viscosities be the processing temperature of the polymer mixtures of 50 to 5000 poise in amounts of O 1 S to 10 wt.% Based on the weight the total mixture, al; Homogenizing aids are added and the mixture obtained is homogenized in the usual way! will. Examples of suitable polymers of this type are polyisobutylenes with medium to high molecular weights, polychlorobutadiene and butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymers, polybutadiene and butadiene-styrene copolymers and polyvinyl ethers. Rubber-like polymers are used in low molecular weight or masticated form. As special; The use of polyisobutyl has proven favorable. The amount of homogenizing aids to be used according to the invention, based on the total plastic mixture, can vary within a relatively wide range. In general, it is between 0.5 and 10% and preferably between 1 and 5%.
The invention can be applied to any polymer blend are used, which alone are difficult or impossible to homogenize at all. Examples for Such polymer mixtures are polyvinyl chloride unc post-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride with plasticizers, the are poorly absorbed, polyethylene with low molecular weight flame retardants or other liquid Modifiers and auxiliaries, chlorinated polyethylene with plasticizers, mixtures of polyvinylchloric or polyethylene or copolymers of ethylene or polypropylene and copolymers, chlorinated polyethylenes and chlorinated polypropylenes alleir or in combination with bitumen. Selbsi polymers of the same type,;:. B. polyethylene, the have a very different shrinkage index than high molecular weight polyethylene and polyethylene waxes, can be processed according to the method of the invention zi homogeneous polymer mixtures In addition, chlorinated polyethylenes which are usually irradiated by chlorination of polyethylene powder can also be used Depending on the particle diameter, different chlorine values and thus different flow behavior have, by adding the conventional homogenizing aids to significantly smoother end products processed than was previously possible.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the following examples Ausfüh approximately.
Werden zu der Mischung bei 80°C 2 Teilf60 parts of chlorinated polyethylene with a molecular weight of 180,000 and a chlorine content of 28 ° / (in powder form and 40 parts of chlorinated paraffin with a chlorine content of 50% as a liquid were in a roller kneader at 40 0 C, at 80 0 C and at 120 0 C. No homogeneous mixture resulted. The tear strength wedges determined for the material were <10 kp / cm 2. 2 parts are added to the mixture at 80 ° C.
Polyisobutylene with a molecular weight of 1,300,000 is added in 3 minutes to obtain a homogeneous mixture which has tear strengths of 80 kgf / cm 2 .
A chlorinated polyethylene with a molecular weight of 150,000 and an average chlorine content of 30%, which had been chlorinated directly by the action of gaseous chlorine on the powdery polyethylene, the powdery polyethylene had a particle size distribution of 100 to 800 μ, was in a single-screw extruder with several speed settings over the entire range and with melt temperatures of 120 ° C, 130 °, 140 °, 150 °, 160 °, 170 ° and t5 180 ° C extruded into a tube. In all test settings, profiles with a rough surface resulted, due to the different chlorine content depending on the grain distribution. The flowability of chlorinated polyethylene changes with the chlorine content. By adding 3% polyisobutylene with a molecular weight of 800,000, profiles with a smooth surface were obtained in all test settings. The same success was achieved with 3% polybutadiene aoryl nitrile with 3% polychlorobutadiene and with 3% natural rubber.
Durch Zusatz von 4% Polyisobutylen mit einem Molekulargewicht von 4 700 000 wurde eine Mischung erhalten mit einer Reißfestigkeit von 280 kp/cm2.40 parts of polyvinyl chloride as a powder with a K value of 65, 30 parts of chlorinated low-pressure polyethylene with a molecular weight of 1,200,000 and a chlorine content of 20% also in powder form and 30 parts of plasticizer dibutyl phthalate as a liquid could be mixed in a kneader at 90 to 100.degree can be processed into a mixture with a tensile strength of 60 kp / cm 2. The addition of 4% polyisobutylene with a molecular weight of 4,700,000 gave a mixture with a tensile strength of 280 kp / cm 2 .
