Abstract

Operation of an electrical light switch in a house results in a transmitter sending a wireless signal via such as an infrared or ultrasonic link to a lighting unit power connection. The signal is received by a unit built into the socket to switch the power on. The transmission can also include a facility for control of a light dimming function.

Description

Gebrauchsmusterantrag: Fernbedienbarer Lichtschalter Beschreibung:Utility model application: Remote-controlled light switch Description:

Anwendungsfall:Use case:

An existing electrical installation in a house (typically a light switch for a ceiling connection) is to be converted so that instead of a ceiling light on the existing ceiling connection, a floor lamp can be switched on at a socket. In principle, this device can be used to switch all devices on a socket using the "normal" light switch, not just floor lamps.

Stand der Technik:State of the art:

Nachteil: Batteriebetrieb -> Wartung
Currently commercially available competing products usually use a battery-operated handheld transmitter and a receiver module on the socket that is controlled wirelessly. Variants also have a (usually step-by-step) dimmer function.
Advantage: No installation effort is necessary.
Disadvantage: Battery operation -> maintenance

Bestehender Lichtschalter / bestehendes Schalterprogramm kann nicht weiterverwendet werdenExisting light switch / existing switch program can no longer be used

A transmitter is to be connected to the existing ceiling connection .

A receiver should also be plugged in between the socket and the floor lamp.

By switching the existing light switch, the transmitter sends a signal (radio, infrared, ultrasound, modulation on the power grid, etc.) to the receiver to switch on the floor lamp.

In the "On" state, enough power must be stored so that after the light switch is turned off, there is just enough energy left to transmit the switch-off signal to the receiver.

It is also conceivable to operate the transmitter control unit with a battery independently of the power grid and to detect the respective switching process not by direct connection to the power grid but indirectly, e.g. via induction, and to trigger the respective transmission process.

Vorteil der vorgeschlagenen Lösung:Advantage of the proposed solution:

The existing installation can be used, i.e.:

• es ist kein Umdenken erforderlich, da weiterhin der gewohnte Schalter benutzt wird.• no rethinking is required as the usual switch is still used.

• das bestehende Schalterdesign muß nicht verändert werden und paßt weiterhin zum vorhandenen Schalterprogramm.• the existing switch design does not need to be changed and continues to fit the existing switch range.

• es sollten sich Kostenvorteile ggü. derzeit handelsüblichen Lösungen realisieren lassen (kein aufwendiges Design für Handsender-Gehäuse, keine Tasten, keine Batterie...)• cost advantages should be realised compared to currently commercially available solutions (no complex design for handheld transmitter housing, no buttons, no battery...)

• Wartungsfrei, da nach Möglichkeit das Stromnetz zur Versorgung benutzt wird.• Maintenance-free, as the power grid is used for supply wherever possible.

Funktionsweise:Functionality:

Zwei Arten der Signalerzeugung sind denkbar:Two types of signal generation are conceivable:

• Lichtschalter einschalten und eingeschaltet lassen: ein Einschaltsignal wird erzeugt• Turn on the light switch and leave it on: a switch-on signal is generated

• Lichtschalter ausschalten: bei abfallender Spannung wird ein Ausschaltsignal erzeugt Alternativ über "Codierung":• Turn off the light switch: when the voltage drops, a switch-off signal is generated. Alternatively, via "coding":

• Lichtschalter kurz ein- und ausschalten: Licht ein• Briefly switch the light switch on and off: light on

• nochmaliges ein- und ausschalten des Lichtschalters: Licht wieder aus• turning the light switch on and off again: light off again

In addition to switching on and off, it may also be possible to implement dimmer functions, for example by adjusting the rhythm with which the light switch is operated.
For example:

• kurzes ein- und ausschalten: ein• short switch on and off: on

• nochmaliges kurzes ein- und ausschalten: wieder aus• switch on and off again briefly: off again

• einschalten: Licht wird solange heller bis Lichtschalter wieder ausgeschaltet wird nochmaliges einschalten: Licht wird solange dunkler bis Lichtschalter wieder ausgeschaltet wird• switch on: light gets brighter until the light switch is turned off again switch on again: light gets darker until the light switch is turned off again

Claims (1)

The transmitter to be protected is one that is connected to the existing ceiling connection of a house electrical installation and is operated via the existing light switch.
A receiver must be plugged in between the socket and the consumer to be switched.
By switching the existing light switch, the transmitter sends a signal (radio, infrared, ultrasound, modulation on the power grid, etc.) to the receiver to switch a consumer.
In the "On" state, enough power must be stored so that after the light switch is turned off, there is just enough energy left to transmit the switch-off signal to the receiver.
It is also conceivable to operate the transmitter with a battery independent of the power grid and to detect the respective switching process not by direct connection to the power grid but indirectly, e.g. via induction, and thereby trigger the respective transmission process.
As an extension, in addition to switching on/off, dimmer functions are conceivable, for example through the respective rhythm with which the light switch is operated.
For example: - short on and off switch: on - switch on and off again briefly: off again - switch on: light gets brighter until the light switch is turned off again switch on again: light gets darker until the light switch is turned off again
