Abstract

The steering wheel comprises a foam clad frame (10) upon which is fitted a plastic or light metal cover (20) determining the visual appearance of the assembled steering wheel. The cover can be clipped and/or screwed to the frame, and joined to the foam cladding enclosing the frame. The cover has at least one spoke cover (26a,26b) for a spoke or spoke pair of the frame. The number of spoke covers may be greater than the number of spokes or spoke pairs. Into the cover may be integrated the cover (22) for an airbag module and/or decorative elements. An independent claim is included for a steering wheel system which has several covers fitted to the foam-clad steering wheel.

Claims (9)

Lenkrad für ein Kraftfahrzeug, mit einem umschäumten Lenkradskelett (10), dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß eine Blende (20) lösbar auf das umschäumte Lenkradskelett (10) aufgesetzt ist, wobei die Blende (20) die Optik des fertig zusammengebauten Lenkrads bestimmt.1.
