Abstract
A flood protection system for a building has a folded waterproof sheet secured into the bottom of a gully around the bottom of the building, with one edge of the sheet secured with adhesive. In the event of flooding the sheet is pulled up and secured to the building forming a flood barrier up to a set height. A gravel covered drain is positioned under the bottom edge of the sheet and the gully is covered by removable grids. The lower windows of the building are fitted with grids against which the foil is pressed by the water pressure.

Claims (1)
A fabric-reinforced film ( 1 ) is characterized in that it is folded, installed in an approx. 30 cm wide and 80 cm deep trench ( 2 ), all around a building to be protected, in the named trench ( 2 ). The trench ( 2 ) is characterized in that it is formed by an angular support wall ( 3 ) to the ground and is covered with gratings ( 4 ). In new buildings, the film ( 1 ) is characterized in that it is glued at the lower end to the basement wall ( 5 ) (white bath), in old buildings (no white bath), the film ( 1 ) is characterized in that this is taped up to the foundation level. In addition, this film ( 1 ) is characterized in that an approximately 20 cm thick gravel layer ( 6 ) and underneath an annular drainage ( 7 ), which leads to the local drainage, is arranged under this film ( 1 ). The film ( 1 ) is also characterized in that this film ( 1 ) folded in the trench ( 2 ), after removal of the gratings ( 4 ), can be pulled up on the building in the event of a flood.
At the building openings are covers ( 8 ), which are characterized in that they withstand the water pressure with the spanned film ( 1 ).
In addition, this film ( 1 ) is characterized in that it is weather-resistant, moisture-proof and resistant to aggressive liquids.
See Fig. 1, basic building plan, M = 1: 100 and Fig. 2, vertical section through the basement with the surrounding foil trench.
