Abstract

After the bag has been sealed, the free oxygen concentration in the bag falls from approximately 22% to 3 - 4%, while the carbon dioxide concentration rises to approximately 8% and then falls to approximately 4.5%. The adhesive strips may be torn off shortly before the bag is opened to allow the contents to breathe.
