The so-called stand-up paddling sport is spreading more and more.

You stand on a surfboard and hold a paddle in your hand, which you use to move forward. More and more people are flocking to this sport because it's easy and can be practiced almost anywhere. These inflatable boards are usually between 70 and 90 cm wide. Older athletes in particular find it difficult to keep their balance on these swaying boards.

Because especially with waves you need a very good balance to not fall into the water. This disadvantage of the sport is to be eliminated by the solution described below.

A telescopic bar is proposed which can be adjusted to different heights and which has a saddle at its upper end on which the athlete can sit. The telescopic rod is attached to the surfboard below.

If the sportsman now sits on the seat, with his legs slightly bent, one can now speak of a tripod, the two legs of the sportsman and a third leg, which is attached to the surfboard so that it is between the two feet and the telescopic bar forms a triangle. Through these three points, the athlete experiences significantly improved stability on the surfboard.

The telescopic rod with the saddle offers even more advantages, depending on how high you set the saddle, the paddler's center of gravity is lowered significantly, resulting in even better stability.

The telescoping rod is hinged to the bottom of the surfboard in such a way that it can move forwards and backwards in the midship plane, but cannot fall over to the left or right. Furthermore, the pole is held in an almost upright position by a spring or an elastic band.

Another benefit of this invention, which allows for the paddler's lower center of gravity, is that the paddler can drag their paddle a longer distance through the water, making paddling more efficient.
