Abstract

Description

Field of invention

The present invention relates to the field of tents or awnings.

Background of the invention

Traditionally, zippers are used to close openings in tents or awnings. It is always important to ensure the most effective closure possible to keep insects out of the inside of the tent or awning. In addition, at night when a user leaves the tent for other purposes, it is problematic that closing a zipper is very noisy and risks waking up other residents of the tent or awning. US3827019 reveals a closure with magnets. However, weather conditions may require a very strong closure to prevent it from opening or water or snow from entering the tent or awning, and water or wind may enter through a zipper.

KR200322063 discloses a waterproof zipper having a waterproof and moisture-proof function for items such as bags, tents or shoes by blocking the zipper fabric as well as the interlocking zipper track portion. The zipper track is covered with a pair of waterproof membranes made of a soft resin material mixed or coated with magnetic powder. The magnetic membranes connect magnetically and form a waterproof barrier in front of the zipper.

Aim of the invention

The aim of the present invention is to provide a tent or awning closure that solves at least some of the above-mentioned problems.

Description of the invention

A first aspect relates to a tent or awning comprising a door with a left wing and a right wing; each wing comprising a first side panel suitable for connection to the wall of the tent or awning and a second side panel; wherein the second side part of the left wing is adapted to be connected to the opposite second side part of the right wing; each second side panel being divided into a first and a second flap; wherein the first flap includes a zipper or other closure means, such as snap fasteners or Velcro fasteners, and wherein the second flap includes a magnet.

In one or more embodiments, the first flap of the left wing faces the inside of the tent or awning, the second flap of the left wing faces the environment, the first flap of the right wing faces the inside of the tent or awning, and the second flap of the right wing faces the surroundings. In this configuration, the zipper faces the inside of the tent or awning and the magnetic closure faces the surroundings. This allows the user to forego the zipper when inside the tent or awning, and using both closures ensures a weatherproof closure.

This configuration allows for a very strong connection between the second flap of the left wing and the second flap of the right wing without the need to use very strong magnets. In addition, the pattern of the areas allows the flaps to be positioned very precisely relative to one another. The areas of positive polarization on the plate-shaped permanent magnet(s) of the second flap of the left wing attract the areas of negative polarization on the plate-shaped permanent magnet(s) of the second flap of the right wing; and vice versa.
