Description
Eine Pferdedecke ist eine Decke, die den Körper des Pferdes ganz oder teilweise bedeckt, um es z.B. vor Nässe, Kälte oder Insekten schützen soll. Je nach Verwendungszweck der Pferdedecke variiert auch das Material und das Futter bzw. die Füllung der Decke. Es gibt sie auch mit Bauchlatz, Highneck oder Hals- bzw. Kopfteil.
Gerade zum Herbst und Winter greift der Mensch durch das Eindecken mit einer Pferdedecke und das Scheren des Tieres in die natürliche Thermoregulation des Pferdes ein.
Wie warm oder kalt es unter einer Pferdedecke ist, lässt sich nicht bestimmen. Nur wenn der Reiter seine Hand zwischen Pferdedecke und Pferdehaut legt, kann er ein Gefühl dafür bekommen, ob die gewählte Pferdedecke durch ihr Futter bzw. Füllung das Pferd warm hält, es überhitzt, oder es zu kalt unter der Decke ist.
