Description
The present invention relates to aqueous coating materials, in particular dispersion coating materials. The invention further relates to a color or primer coating on a substrate surface, obtained or obtainable by applying the coating material according to the invention one or more times to the substrate surface.
Paint coatings are often required not only to have high hiding power, but also to have high mechanical resistance, for example good wet abrasion resistance. Accordingly, there has been no lack of attempts to arrive at correspondingly improved paint coatings.

It would only be desirable to be able to fall back on those aqueous coating compositions which can be produced inexpensively and which at the same time have a user-friendly profile of properties with regard to color impression and mechanical resistance.
Accordingly, the present invention was based on the object of providing aqueous coating compositions which no longer suffer from the disadvantages of the prior art and which in particular have good hiding power and / or a good, permanent color impression, determined in particular on the basis of the white - and / or yellow index values, and possibly also have a satisfactory wet abrasion resistance.
Accordingly, aqueous coating materials, in particular dispersion coating materials, have been found containing a) organic binders in an amount of less than 30.0% by weight (solids content), b) water glass and / or silica sol in an amount of less than 1.5% by weight (solids content ) and c) 15 to 70% by weight of at least one pigment and / or at least one filler.
In an advantageous embodiment, the organic binder a) in the coating materials of the invention is present in an amount in the range from 4.0 to 12.5% by weight, preferably in the range from 4.5 to 10.0% by weight and particularly preferred in the range from 5.0 to 9.0 wt%. With the abovementioned proportions of binder, the coating materials of the invention can generally be used to obtain a low wet abrasion which is sufficient for both indoor and outdoor use. Furthermore, alternatively or additionally in a further advantageous embodiment, the water glass and / or silica sol is in an amount less than 1.45% by weight, preferably in the range from 0.1 to 1.45% by weight and particularly preferably in the range of 0 , 25 to 1.40 wt%. For many applications it has been shown that even with an amount of less than 1.5% by weight (solids content) of waterglass, the coating compositions according to the invention can be used to obtain adequate hiding power. Water glass can be obtained, for example, by reacting alkali carbonate and / or alkali hydroxide with quartz sand. It is usually in the form of aqueous solutions. These can have different concentrations. Sodium and potassium water glass and lithium water glass are generally of technical importance. For the coating compositions according to the invention, preference is given to using potassium waterglass.
