Die Aufstellung erfolgt in beliebiger Art und Weise (hängend oder stehend) mit jeweils 2–3 Geräten pro Hektar Fläche. Beim Einschalten führt das Gerät einen Selbsttest durch und informiert den Anwender optoakustisch über das voreingestellte Programm und den Ladezustand der Batterien bzw. Akkus. Der Startzeitpunkt der gezielten Beunruhigung der Rehgeiß (Ricke) erfolgt je nach Ausführung oder eingestelltem Programm sofort oder über einen eingebauten Dämmerungsschalter. Die Beunruhigung selbst erfolgt akustisch/optisch und hat immer wieder genügend lange Pausen in denen die Rehgeiß ihr Kitz selbst aus dem potentiellen Gefahrenbereich führen kann. Das Vergrämungsprogramm startet sofort. Die Vergrämung selbst erfolgt akustisch/optisch und in, nach dem Zufallsprinzip ausgewählten Zeitdauer und Zeitabständen, die einen voreingestellten max. Wert nicht überschreiten. Um Energie zu sparen wird die vorhandene optische Unterstützung der Vergrämung durch den Dämmerungsschalter im Tagbetrieb automatisch abgeschaltet.
