Die der Erfindung zugrundeliegende Aufgabe wird durch eine Schutzvorrichtung mit den Merkmalen des Anspruchs 1 gelöst. Erfindungsgemäß ist hierzu vorgesehen, dass die Vorderseite und die Rückseite von jeweils einer textilen Stofflage gebildet werden, wobei zwischen den Stofflagen ein weicher Kern aus einem Schaummaterial angeordnet ist, auf dem die Stofflagen jeweils aufliegen, und wobei zumindest die Vorderseite mit einer durch Erhöhungen und/oder Vertiefungen in der entsprechenden Stofflage und dem Kern gebildeten Struktur versehen ist. Das Schutzelement ist also dreilagig aufgebaut, wobei die äußeren Lagen durch den textilen Stoff und die mittlere Lage durch den weichen Kern aus Schaummaterial gebildet werden. Die Stofflagen liegen dabei bevorzugt über ihre gesamte Erstreckung hinweg auf dem weichen Schaumkern auf. Dadurch entspricht die Kontur der Vorderseite und der Rückseite jeweils der Kontur des Kerns. Durch Vorsehen der Vertiefungen und/oder Erhöhungen an dem Schaumkern ergeben sich somit auch die Erhöhungen und Vertiefungen an der Stofflage der Vorderseite.
