Während es bei Heckdeckeln keine gesetzlichen Vorgaben gibt und die Kunden in den meisten Fällen Zerreisswerte von ca. 5000 N in Öffnungsrichtung fordern, gibt es bei Heckklappenschlössern gesetzliche Vorgaben (ECE/FMVSS206/etc...) und Kundenvorgaben die meistens eine Verschärfung der gesetzlichen Vorgaben um 20–50 % darstellen.
